Namemas: Drummond

Happy last day of Namemas and Christmas Eve! I hope these last 11 days have brought you some interesting reads and some Christmas cheer. We're finishing off the countdown with a boys name with a cool nickname.

Places of Drummond
There are many places bearing the name Drummond all around the world. One of the main roads in Niagara Falls is Drummond Road. There is a glacier named Drummond Glacier in Antarctica. Drummond is found many in Canada, Northern Ireland, and the United States in towns and villages.

The name isn't just used for locations. There is a castle in Perthshire, Scotland called Drummond Castle. The building has been around since the 14th century. Now a days it is known for its beautiful gardens.

Coal: The naughty Christmas Association
Drummond Company is a coal mining company with operation in Alabama and Colombia. The company was founded in 1935 in Jasper, Alabama bu Heman Edward Drummond. By 2013 the company was inducted into the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame. This coal company name is a perfect Christmas association!

Famous Drummonds
To my surprise there are quite a few famous Drummonds in the world! The most recent and famous is Ree Drummond, an American food blogger and chef with her own tv show and loads of other products. Although her name is used as a surname.

As a first name there is (John) Drummond Allison, an English WWII poet and Drummond Nicol Brown, an American baseball catcher in the 1910s. Drummond Hoyle Matthews is a British marine geologist and plate tectonics pioneer from the 1950s and 1960s. He was nicknamed Drum as well!

Christmas Association
On the twelfth day of Christmas

my true love sent to me:
12 Drummers Drumming
11 Pipers Piping
10 Lords a Leaping
9 Ladies Dancing
8 Maids a Milking
7 Swans a Swimming
6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Drummond is my pick for the last day for Namemas. The Drum nickname is what sold me on this name and other than the nickname there is hardly any music instrument connections. While doing research I found the coal company name and thought this is just perfect! I love these little Christmas association surprises! This name is preppy and old fashioned sounding. For all the parents wanting an unique surname first name this is the pick for them!

Namemas: Peverell

We are one day away from Namemas ending! As much work as this series is it is still sad to me to have it ending. Today's name is a unique boy name that dates back to the Norman Conquest times. If you like surname as first names you might just like this name!

Harry Potter
The Peverell family is family of 3 brothers in Harry Potter. They are said to have been the original masters of the Deathly Hallows. No male Peverells descendants came from those 3 brothers only female descendants. From those female descendants many families came. Harry Potter is in the family line. I am not a huge Harry Potter fan and I'm sure there is someone out there that can explain it better.

Places and Knights and Surnames
The name is more often seen as a surname than a first name. It has not been used as first name status as far as my research has taken me. Peverell is a neighborhood in Plymouth in England. William Peverel was a Norman knight who was granted land following the Norman Conquest. On that land he built 162 manors and castles. History says that William Peverel was the illegitimate son of William the Conqueror.

Christmas Association
On the eleventh day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:

11 Pipers Piping

10 Lords a Leaping
9 Ladies Dancing
8 Maids a Milking
7 Swans a Swimming
6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Peverell means piper in French. I decided not to go with the obvious choice of Piper for today's name post. Plus I have featured a lot of girl names this year and wanted to throw in a boy name toward the end of this Namemas.

Namemas: Tallulah

With only a few days left of Namemas I am leaving you with another beautiful, unique and not overly Christmas name. A name that brings to mind summer and warmth rather than winter. But hey this name would be nice for the countries who are celebrating Christmas in warm weather!

Native American Tallulah
In Choctaw, the name means leaping waters while in the Creek language it is said to mean town. Georgia has a set of waterfalls called Tallulah Falls. The waterfalls has been rumored to be named for the Native American words but there is no concrete evidence. With the waterfalls there is also a state park and town bearing the same name.

Famous Tallulah's
One of the most famous Tallulah's out there is Tallulah Bankhead, an actress with a crazy cast. She was named after her grandmother who was named after Tallulah Falls.

In 2008 the name Talula made headlines for a bad reason when parents in New Zealand tried to name their daughter Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii. They would go on to lose custody of the child for a short period of time. The girl would go on to have a name changed by the courts.

Irish Talulla
In Ireland the name Talulla means Lady of Abundance or even Princess of abundance and comes from the Irish name Tailelaith. There is a celtic saint named Tallula but she doesn't make saint list and there is hardly any information on her.

Talulah's Many Spellings
There are a ton of spelling combinations out there to fit the need you want:
Tallulah
Tallula
Talulla
Talullah
Talula

Christmas Association
On the tenth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
10 Lords a Leaping
9 Ladies Dancing
8 Maids a Milking
7 Swans a Swimming
6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

As soon as I started making this list I knew today's name was going to be Tallulah. It was just so fitting and perfect with its meaning that I didn't even look into the other possible names! I personally enjoy the Tallulah spelling but is nothing wrong with any other spelling.

Namemas: Baila

Today’s name turned out to cover so many aspects of the holiday season. It covers two major holidays being celebrated right now and I had no idea when I made my final name pick. So read on to find out this great connection!

Music
Baila is a form of music in Portugal and is associated with dancing. It is often played at weddings especially in Sir Lanka. For many centuries, Sir Lanka has played Baila music, as a form of folk art. Eventually the music became popular and evolved into the dance music it is today.

Hanukkah Association
Baila is the Yiddish form of Bilhah. She was one of the four women who gave birth to the Trip of Israel. The name in its Yiddish form means white, a meaning perfect for a winter baby!

Christmas Association
On the ninth day of Christmas

my true love sent to me:

9 Ladies Dancing

8 Maids a Milking
7 Swans a Swimming
6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Baila means dance in Spanish. While brain storming ideas for this list I had a good list of dance inspired names but just kept coming back to this one. I then started to do deeper research and found 3 reasons to pick Baila over all the other dance names: it overs both Christmas and Hanukkah as well as being a winter name!  The name sound so beautiful and familiar.

Namemas: Virginia

Today's Namemas name is a sweet vintage name that has been around for centuries and has ranked in the top 1000 since the charts were started in 1880. The absolutely charming story behind Virginia's Christmas connection is to die for! Read on to find out.

Roman History
The name is a feminine form of Verginius or Virginius which is long associated with the Latin virgo meaning "maid, virgin". Legend has it a Roman woman was killed by her father to save her from the clutches if a crooked official and her name was Virginia. Virginia was kidnapped by another Roman named Marcus Claudis and turned into his slave. Virginia's dad was able to convince Marcus to let him speak to his daughter after some time and thinking the only way to save his daughter was to kill her he went along with his plan.

New World and New Baby
The first English baby born in America was named Virginia Dare in 1587 in Roanoke Island. Her name came from the Colony of Virginia. The colony itself was named after Queen Elizabeth I also known as the Virgin Queen by Sir Walter Raleigh.

Popularity
Virginia ranked in the top 10 from 1916 until 1928. Both before and after the name ranked in the top 10 it ranked in the top 100 for almost 60 years. Starting in 1960 the name went on a downward fall on the charts. As of 2018 the name ranked at #540 and has sat in the 500s for 8 or so years. With names coming back around after a 100 years I can see Virginia gaining popularity.

Famous Name Wearers
One of the most famous Virginias out there is novelist Virginia Woolf. She is considered one of the most important modernist authors of the 20th century. Her two most known pieces of work are Mrs. Dalloway and To The Lighthouse.

Edgar Allen Poe's wife (who was also his cousin) was named Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe. President Bill Clinton's mother was named Virginia. Astronomer Galileo had a daughter named Virginia. And these are just to name a few Virginias out there.

The name is used in multiple songs by multiple artist including The Rolling Stones and the Foo Fighters. You can also find characters in How I Met Your Mother, Raising Hope, and the Marvel universe.

Christmas Association

On the eighth day of Christmas

my true love sent to me:
8 Maids a Milking
7 Swans a Swimming
6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

In September of 1897, an edition of The (New York) Sun published an editorial called "Is There a Santa Claus?". In the editorial there is a phrase "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" that became a part of Christmas folktale in the United States. Virginia was the 8 year old daughter of Dr. Philip O'Hanlon. The doctor suggested that she write to The Sun for the answer and the rest is history.

The famous letter was turned into a short film in 1945 called Santa Claus Story as well as a song by Tex Ritter called "Is There a Santa Claus?" Macy's used the story fir a holiday window displace in 2015. There have been other specials and writing done based on the simple phrase.

As for how the name is associated with the 12 Days of Christmas. The name Virginia is said to have the meaning maid, virgin. An added Virginia milk maid connection is there is a diary company in Newport News, Virginia named Marva Maid Dairy.

Namemas: Odette

We are one week into Namemas already and that is just insane to me! Today is a name that I adore and can't seem to understand why it is not more popular! Find out the name and Christmas connection below!

War Heroine
During World War II, Odette Brailly,  also known as Odette Hallowes,  risked her life to bring information to the Allies. She would later be captured by the Germans where they would torture her before sending her to a concentration camp. Following her release she wrote an autobiography about her time there.

French Beauty
Odette originates from the German element Odo and the French -ette. All the Odo names mean wealthy. Odette could have possibly been a nickname for the medical saint Odilia of Ascale.

Majority of the famous Odettes are French women. There’s everyone from French actresses  to astronomer to wine critics to mistress of a king. The list goes on and on. I do think they are some strong women named Odette to name your daughter after

Popularity
Odette has not ranked in the top 1000 in the Unites States since 1905 with that being the only year the name ranked. Across the pond in her home country of France, Odette has not ranked in their top charts since the 1970s. I find the name very fitting with names like Olivia and Madeline. Parents also seem to be catching on to the -eye baby names.

Christmas Association
On the seventh day of Christmas

my true love sent to me:

7 Swans a Swimming

6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Odette is the name of the princess turned into a swan in ballet Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The ballet dates all the back to 1875. Since then it has been adapted into many different movies and plays.

Namemas: Brecon

I have to say I had trouble picking today's name! I was going between 2 names. The one I posted and Adler. Original plan was to go with Adler but I felt there was more to write about with Brecon. So enjoy some history on a unique name that also fits great with modern boy names!

Places
Brecon is a town in the middle of Wales and has been around since the 1840s. The town lays just north of the Brecon Beacons mountain range. The mountains are the center of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The national park is one of three in Wales. It is in these mountains that the Brecon geese originated. A cool product from the national park is Brecon gin. Brecon gin is made from botanicals from 4 different places and water from the Brecon Beacon National Park.

Variant Spellings
Brecon is said to be a variant of the Irish name Breccan. Other various spellings include Brecon, Breckin, and Brecken. Spelled Breccan, it is a name of an Irish saint of the Isle of Aran. In mythological legend there is a Breccan who was said to be a merchant trading between Ireland and Scotland. Legend has it he was swallowed up by a huge caldron and never seen from again. The name fits in nicely with other trendy boy names like Bodin, Casen, and Beckett.

Christmas Association

On the sixth day of Christmas

my true love sent to me:

6 Geese a Laying
5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Brecon is a breed of geese. Brecon Buff geese originated from Wales. Rhys Llewellyn found the first goose in 1929 in Brecon Beacons. He was able to breed the geese years later in 1934. The geese have pink feet and beaks, a characteristic of the breed.

Namemas: Gwendolen

Happy Namemas day 5! Today is a beautiful feminine name filled with history and nicknames. It has a nice meaning that just fits the fifth day of Christmas.

History
Gwendolen is an ancient Welsh name dating back to the year 1138. Geoffrey of Monmouth first used the name Gwendolen in History of the Kings of Britain. In the story Gwendolen was a queen who defeated her husband in battle. Just 12 years later the same author used the name Gwendolen in Life of Merlin for the wizard's wife. In 1813, Gwendolen was used as the name of the fairy mistress of King Arthur.

Popularity
Although the name has been around for 881 years it has never ranked in the top 1000 with the Gwendolen spelling. The alternative spelling, Gwendolyn, ranked at #871 in 1880. In 2018, the same spelling ranked at #372. I can see the appeal of Gwendolyn to American parents. It's has the popular  -lyn ending parents like.

Possible Nicknames
Gwendolen has some great nicknames. There are a feel vintage beauties in the mix. One of the reasons I really like the name Gwendolen is for her many nicknames.

Gwen, Gwennie, Dolly, Winnie, Wendy, Gigi, Lynn, Glen

Christmas Association
On the fifth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:

5 Golden Rings
4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
Gwendolen is my pick for Namemas day 5. The name means white ring so not exactly gold rings. There is white gold out there that looks almost silver. White is also a color of Christmas and associated with snow. Here in the northern hemisphere snow is a common and wished for thing on Christmas. Everyone wants a white Christmas!

Namemas: Robin

For this 4th day of Namemas I had so many bird names to pick from but ultimately went with a name that has a Christmas association besides just the 12 days of Christmas song. Read to find out!

History
Robin is the medieval diminutive of Robert, possibly from Robin Hood. Other sources say Robin could be a nickname for Robert. In England the name is used more often on boys while in the United States it is used more for girls. As a surname Robin is popular in France.

Famous Wearers
Robin Williams is an American actor and comedian staring in movies from Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Aladdin, Dead Poets Society, and so much more. In 2014 he died from suicide shocking many of his fans. His death could have possibly been the reason why robin popped back onto the top 1000 charts in 2015 after not being used for boys since 1999.

Robin Roberts is a famous female bearer who can be found on ABC's Good Morning America. In 2012 the show broadcasted her journey and treatment with myelodysplasia syndrome, a cancer.

Robin Gayle Wright is most famous for her role as Jenny in Forrest Gump. Before that she played the Princess Bride in the movie with the same name. She has had many award nominations and even won a Golden Globe.

Fictional Robins
Although Robin is a unisex name, it started out on boys. Robin Hood first appeared in the 13th and 14th centuries as a character from English folktale. He went around stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Movies and books were made from the legend.

Christopher Robin was the human character in A.A. Milne's book series Winnie the Pooh. It first appeared in the 1920s and is still a staple character for children all over the world.

Robin is the hero sidekick of D.C Comic's Batman. He made his first appearance in 1940. The character was introduced as a way to attract a younger audience to the comics. Since then Robin has been around since in countless movies, books, shows, and comics.

Robin is a main character from the tv show How I Met Your Mother. Another fictional female Robin is from the popular Netlifx show Stranger Things.

Christmas Association
On the fourth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:

4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

There are many, many bird names out there that could work for today's name but I settled on Robin because of it's Christmas association. Robin Redbreasts are often found on Christmas cards and decorations. But they have deeper roots than just winter birds. There is a legend out there that said a brown robin was in the manager when delivered Jesus. While Mary was distracted the fire being used to keep baby Jesus warm became too strong and the robin stood between the fire and Jesus. It became scorched and passed its redbreast down for generations.

Another reasons robins are associated with Christmas is after the 1880s post men of England. They wore red coats and were nicknamed robins. Families looked forward to cards from loved ones being delivered by these robins.

Namemas: Georgette

Happy Namemas day 3! Today's name is a great name if you are looking for something that has the least connection to Christmas. Because of today's song lyrics I had the hardest rime finding  name to fit into the category. After much playing around I found Georgette and it just fits! Read on to find out some interesting facts and history on the name.

History
The name Georgette comes from the male name George. George originates from the Greek name Georgios based on the Greek word georgos meaning farmer. Georgos is a combination of 2 Greek words ge meaning earth, soil and ergon meaning work. Somewhere down the line the name George transformed into Georgette and many other George names.

Fabric
Georgette is a lightweight crepe fabric named after the French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante. It was originally made from silk. The fabric is used for everything from dresses to trims. The fabric is closely related to chiffon yet less shiny and stretchy.

Popularity
Georgette was a popular name back in the 1940s and hasn't ranked in the top 1000 since 1977. Her sister, Georgia, is currently ranked at #223. This name makes a nice alternative to a name growing increasingly more popular each year.

Christmas Association
On the third day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:

3 French Hens

2 Turtle Doves

and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

I have to say that today's name was the hardest name to pick out of the whole 12 days. There are not many names that fit with the 3 french hens theme. I toyed with a few ideas in my head but none seemed right. The was until I had the idea to use the French girls version of George. George means farmer and hens live on a farm so it only made sense! So that is the long version of how we got to the name Georgette for the 12 days of Christmas.

Namemas: Jonah

For parents looking for a Christmas name that can be used at any time of year Jonah is the way to go! It doubles also a nice less popular biblical name to names like Noah and Jacob without being too uncommon. The name ranks at #145 in 2018.

Biblical Jonah
In the Old Testament, Jonah was told to preach in Nineveh but ran away on a boat out of fear. When a storm hit the crew threw Jonah overboard where he was swallowed up by a whale. He was able to survive and spent 3 days repenting. His story was popular in the Middle Ages but the name didn't become popular until after the Protestant Reformation.

Famous Wearers
Jonah Hill is an American actor from comedies like Superbad, 21 Jump Street, and Knocked Up. Other famous Jonahs out there include Rugby player Jonah Tali Lomu, American columnist and author, Jonah Jacob Goldberg, and American tv personality Jonah Cardeli Falcon. Prince of Hawaii in the 1870s was Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana'ole. I think my favorite famous Jonah is the prince, so cool and unexpected!

Sleepless in Seattle had Jonah Baldwin and the tv shows Hart of Dixie and Veep have characters Jonah Breeland and Jonah Ryan.

Christmas Association
Jonah means dove. There are many names that mean dove but I went with Jonah because of its biblical association, It almost has a dual Christmas meaning even though Jonah is from the Old Testament before Jesus was born.

Namemas: Perry

Happy first day of Namemas! I am going to be bringing you 12 great names over the next 12 days. They are all centered around the song 12 days of Christmas. Be sure to check out yesterdays blog post for more details and the last 3 years themes and names.

Surname
Perry is both a given name and a surname name. The surname has 7 distinct origins. Starting in England, the surname Perry was given to people who lived near the pear trees. In Wales, Perry and Parry came about as a short form meaning son of Herry/Harry. The Norman French name Perrieur (quarry) possibly refers to a quarryman. Perry is sometimes associated with the Portuguese surname Pereira, which means pear tree in Portuguese. When they would immigrate to the United States families would often "Americanize" the name to Perry. The Italian surname Perri is related to Peter and also Americanized too Perry.

Possible Full Names
Perry is an unisex name that can work as both a given name or nickname. The most common full name for Perry as a nickname has to be Peregrine with Percival being second.

Boys: Percival, Pierre, Peregrine, Perkin, Perez, Parker, Pernell, Pierce
Girls: Perla, Perrine, Perrin, Persis, Pearl, Perenelle, Priscilla, Peridot, Persephone, Perita

Alcoholic Drink
In the bar world, Perry is an alcoholic drink made from fermented pears similar to the way cinder is made with apples. In modern times some people call Perry a pear cider. It has a history started in what is now France today. It eventually made its way to England where you can find it as a popular beverage.

Perry Products
The Perry brothers, James and Stephen, made their first car in 1899 with a three wheeler. They then went on to make two more cars. Their Perry 8hp is a cyclecar made on 1911 and only 800 were produced.

Before the Perry brothers made cars they made dip pens in 1824 with their company Perry & Co. They would go on to produce pens for 58 years. They most likely lost business when ballpoint pens became popular.

Famous Wearers
You can find Perry on a few famous men. Perry Como is an American singer with a career that lasted more than half a century. He was known for his cardigan sweaters. Perry Ellis, a fashion designer of the 1970s was another famous Perry. The founder of Lollapalooza was named Perry Farrell. There are countless other Perrys from athletes to actors.

Fictional Perry's include Perry the platypus from Disney's Phineas and Ferb and Perry Cox from the TV show Scrubs. If you've ever read the series The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants you know that one of the main characters, Bridget, has a twin brother named Perry.

Popularity
Perry is equally unpopular for both genders. In 2018, the spelling Perry was not ranked for either gender. 133 boys received the name and only 79 girls in 2018. It last ranked in the top 1000 for boys in 2006 at #971 and has never ranked in the top 1000 for girls. For girls the only time a spelling of Perry ranked in the top 1000 was in 1958 with the Perri spelling.

Christmas Association
On the first day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
A Partridge in a Pear Tree
The name Perry means pear tree and is perfect for the first day of Christmas! Perry can also mean son of Herry but the pear meaning is the most common.

Namemas Vol 4

Happy December everyone! If you have been around here for some time then you know I do a Christmas name countdown called Namemas. Starting December 13th I will post a Christmas name every day until Christmas. The first year I did it I just picked 12 names I liked. The following year it was unique names. And last year I decided to go with a theme and asked you guys on instagram you picked your favorite in poll. We got nature names and I have to say I had so much fun last year that I decided to go with a theme again! I gave you guys 3 options and the winner was....

12 Days of Christmas

I was leaning towards this theme but stuck between that and biblical names.

Because I spent so much time working on this series I won't have a post up for you today. But buckle up because we have some fun names for you over the next 12 days!

Christmas Music Names

Did you guys enjoy my holiday namer's gift guide? That was just the start of the holiday posts around here! I hope you are ready for Namemas next week. Speaking of Namemas today's post was a theme idea for the 12 day long series but didn't have enough names for me to use. This list is perfect for the music lover and Christmas lover out there.

Herald
"Hark! The Herald Angles Sing"
Herald comes from the 1736 hymn. A herald is an official messenger who brings news. The name is extremely unpopular and rarely used. In 2018 it wasn't even given to 5 baby boys (or girls). Some sources say it is possibly an alternative to Harold.

Joy
"Joy to the World"
Joy is both a name from the beloved song of Joy to the World as well as a nice virtue name. The name was first used by the Puritans. It is still used today for both first and middle names because there is just so much to love about this short and sweet name.

Noel
"The First Noel"
Noel is an unisex name that currently ranks more popular for boys much to my surprise. It ranks in the top 500 for boys. The girls have taken over the Noelle spelling. Noel is the ultimate Christmas name simply for the meaning, Christmas in French.

Jeanette
"Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella"
The Christmas carol comes from France and was surprisingly not meant to be a Christmas carol. In the song two girls find a baby and his mother in a stall and run to a nearby town to tell everyone about it. Jeanette is a beautiful French name in line with other -ette names like Juliet and Odette.

Isabella
"Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella"
Like the previous name, Isabella comes from the French Christmas carol. Right now Isabella is the #4 most popular name in the United States. He popularity was quick. In the 1980s the name wasn't even ranked in the top 1000!

Carol
"Carol of the Bells"
Carol as a song with the name but it really embodies all Christmas songs. A name that was popular in the 1930s and 1940s is not even ranked in the top 1000 today. She is a name you will find on your grandmothers. Carol comes from the name Charles meaning free man.

Emmanuel
"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel"
You can find this song being sung throughout churches on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The name on the other hand is not something you are going to find very often. It ranks in the top 200 for 2018 but its on of the names that ranks high but it's overused.

Bell
"Jingle Bells"
Bell is the spelling of the word where Belle is the more mainstreamed spelling. The spelling Belle means beautiful and is ranked at the bottom of the top 1000 charts. Her sisters Bella, Isabelle, and Isabella all rank much higher on the charts.

Namers Christmas Gift Guide

The holidays are right around the corner and if you are anything like me you have already started you're shopping. Then again I am waiting until the last minute to finish the last of my shopping. The wheels in my head were turning one day and I thought "If I was buying  gift for my namer friends what would I buy?" Now this has lead to my 2019 Namers Christmas Gift Guide! Below are 8 great gifts for the namer in your life.

I found the ultimate name journal! This journal is designed for parents looking for a name for their baby but it works just great if you are single and not expecting. The book starts with a space for your top 3, 5, and 10 names. It is then followed by pages to document all the details of any name you want. including meaning, origin, popularity, and more. I bought this book to do a review on and have to say I love it. The cover and pages are sturdy. The font is fun throughout the book. Each page has just enough space to document all the little details of the names you love.

With the amount of name books out there it was hard to narrow it down to just one. Ultimately I picked the 2019 Baby Name Alamac by Emily Larson because it has a ton of names and is the most up to date with data. Every year they come out with a new book. When looking for a name book I like ones that have a lot of names with unique data. The runner up was Baby Name Wizard's book

Almost all namers have a journal or notebook they write their favorite names down in. No better thing to gift to a namer than a good journal and pen. The Minted personalize journals are so beautiful and have just the right amount of pages to hold all the name thoughts. You can't write with out a good pen! Pilot G2 pens are some of my favorites. This particular pack comes in multiple colors for all the color coding needs you have.
There are a lit of name signs out there but I included this particular company for a reason. Every year my mom, sister, and I go to the flower show and every year they have a booth there featuring names with pressed flowers. Lucky for you guys they have an online store! One of these years I am going to get one for myself!

Name ornaments can be found in lots of different stores in even more styles. I most often find them in those little booths in the middle of the mall. Today I have included a really cool ornament that is a step up for namers. The ornament includes the meaning of the name! I adore that about it. The website I have included has many different name ornament styles.

If other namers are anything like me then they want to know everything they can about a name. There is a a belief that each person's name has a number associated with it. That number has traits and personalities that is said to be associated with the person bearing the name. You can find sources online but I think having a book in hand is pretty cool and more personal.

I can't sit down with a name book or journal without a cup of coffee or tea. Something to cozy up with. I love to get my mugs are Target and Marshal's. They always have the best in my opinion. Right now I am loving Target's "Don't Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle" mug.

I had to include a fellow name instagramer on my list. Tara does beautiful custom name art. Each name artwork is picked and designed based on what Tara sees the name as. She writes a poetic name meaning written from her heart.
