Mom Interview: Alexia Mae and Judah David

Happy Friday, everyone! I am back with another Mommy Interview for you. Today I have a really fun one for you. I got to interview Alexia Mae from youtube! She is a fellow namer and has an amazing youtube, blog, and baby name instagram. Alexia Mae gave birth to her little boy on November 2, 2012 and named him Judah David. Read on to find out how she named him and a little about her decision!

Alexia Mae and her handsome boy Judah David!

What is your baby's name?
Our son's name is Judah David, which means "Praised Beloved".

Gorgeous name! Did you pick Judah David because of the meaning or something else?
I'm a biblical baby name nerd, and I've loved biblical names for a long time. When I was 16 I heard the name Judah, and it was like I was hearing it for the first time. It was like it chose me. I shared it with Josiah when we got married, and he was instantly drawn to it, too. We just knew that we would have a son named Judah. David is after Josiah's dad. And yes, meanings are important to me, too, and so the good meaning of Judah David was an added bonus.

I love how you fell in love with the name and still loved it years later. I just can't get over how great the combo is! Did you think about any other names besides Judah even though you knew you wanted a son named Judah?

A part of the reason we knew the name Judah was perfect was we did still love it after so many years. I think everyone goes through phases of liking different names, but it's the one or the few that are always there that you know are actually of substance to you. A girl name was tricky for us, we could just never land on something we were both in love with. I liked Tabitha, Cassia, and I really loved Salomae nicknamed Sally after my grandmother, and Josiah was voting for Tacoma. After I suggested to him the middle name Diesel or 4-Wheel, we realized how glad we were to be having our Judah!

One of my biggestest fears when I have kids is I will name them and then not like there name any more. Your girl names are so pretty! Do you use any nicknames?
I think a way to make sure you don't fall out of love with your children's names is if they have a lot of meaning to you. I think it's risky to use names that you just like the sound of. Like, I love the name Landon, but there is nothing tying me to the name. Right now I really like Judah Landon instead of Judah David, but in 10, 20 years, David will be still holding his own, and I don't know where Landon will be. Someday if I have a daughter, my heart of hearts is to use the name Salomae, even if it's only as a middle. It's my grandmother's name, it has a nice meaning, and like Judah, it's stayed on my favorites list throughout all my different name phases. I'm thinking of Blythe Salomae or Salomae Blythe. I adore the nickname Sally, but I also like the combo Sally Maewyn. I don't know, we'll see!

I never thought of it that way! That's a great way to see to see names! I LOVE your girl name! It's so beautiful! When you picked out Judah's name did you tell anyone right away or did you wait until he was born?
Thank you! :) Josiah and I decided to keep the name Judah to ourselves. I have personally seen name theft, and right or wrong I had grown so close to the name Judah, I felt like I owned it in a way. I didn't want to risk it, so we kept it close. After the ultrasound when we found out we were having a boy, we called our family and told them that we were having a son, and his name was Judah David. During the rest of the pregnancy we spoke of him and used his name, and it spread quickly, and people really loved it.

Name thefts are the worst! I could never take a name if someone I knew was going to use it. I think we covered everything! Is there anything you would like to add?
Ren, thank you so much for the interview. It was great corresponding with you, and I look forward to reading it finished on your blog! I'd love to collab sometime.

I want to thank Alexia Mae for an amazing interview! I had such a fun time doing this interview and couldn't ask for a better one. I hope everyone enjoyed the interview as much as I did. Make sure you go check out Alexia Mae's blog here, her youtube here and her baby name instagram. I'm SURE you will like them! Thanks again Alexia Mae!

Do you have any nicknames you use?
Noah-NoNo
Charlotte-Char
Lindsay-Linz
I am sure once they are born they will have more!

What names did you have picked out for the other gender?
We didn't. We had an extremely long list and while narrowing it down we found out the genders.

Was the baby named after anyone? If so, who?
Noah is after my other grandfather and Levi is a family name.
Charlotte is after my grandma Abigail is after a friend
Lindsay is after Andy's grandma and Madeline was a name we liked!

Did you know the meaning before you choose the name?
Yes we did!

Ren did! She was a HUGE help!

Did you use a book or website to help pick the names?

Mom Interview: Rebecca and Callum

Hey all! Today is Friday and also the next Mom Interview! I haven't done a Mom Interview in a while. I am glad to be back to them and hope to interview more moms. This time is a friend of mine that I meet through Formspring. Her name is Rebecca but she also goes by Rebe. She has a sweet little boy names Callum and I loved hearing how she choose her name. So let's get started.

A sweet baby Callum! Rebe's Callum is in my header above!

What is your baby's name (Include middle if you like)?
Callum Donovan

Do you have any nicknames you use?
He has SO many nicknames but none really have to do with his name.  He has been called C-dog, Pip, Baby Blue and many more.  Now that he has teeth on the bottom Brant calls him upside down beaver... Hahaha.

What names did you have picked out for the other gender?
We had hardly any names picked out if he had been a girl.  I hadn't liked many girl names but we liked Stella, Clara, Violet, Isla.

Was the baby named after anyone? If so, who?
No, he wasn't named after anyone.  We wanted to give him his own unique name and would have way too many people to honour if we did

Did you know the meaning before you choose the name?
I did!  Callum means dove which is the symbol of love and peace.  It helped that I really love the name anyway haha.

Who helped in picking the name?
All of the formspring baby naming community! haha.  Brant helped a bit but basically just saying what names he didn't like. We had Declan, Theodore, Finley and Oliver picked out as well and he liked Callum the best (and so did I).

Did you use a book or website to help pick the names?
Formspring helped A LOT and name berry of course was a website I was on daily.

Is there anything you would like to add about how you named your baby?
I really wanted his middle name to be Reid but I decided that I would let Brant pick the middle name.  He was okay with Reid but later on changed his name to Donovan so most people are still unaware that Callum's name is not Reid and it is actually Donovan.

Thank you Rebe for doing the name interview! I loved hearing how you choose Callum's name. If anyone would like to be interviewed, leave a comment below or email me at renanneliesedavidson@gmail.com. I am looking for moms or dads to interview.

Mom Interview: Lauren, Oliver, Jillian, and Ari (Part 1)

Hey all! I’m back with another Mom Interview! This time is a mom I have had the pleasure to help name her triplets! Her name is Lauren and she also has three older kids. She did the interview on the 3 older kids and later I’ll have an interview up of how she named the triplets. So let’s get started.

A baby named Ari but NOT Lauren's Ari

What is your baby(ies) name(s) (Include middle if you like)?
Oliver Seth, Jillian Ivy and Ari Samuel

Do you have any nicknames you use?
Oliver-Oli,Ollie Pop, Ols,
Jillian-Jilly,Jill,Jillibean, Jills, Peanut
Ari-Ars,Ri-Ri, and Ari Sam Sam

What names did you have picked out for the other gender?
We did not find out the genders for them but Oliver and Jillian were our 1 boy and 1 girls name. If Ari was a girl he would of been Annabelle.

Was the baby named after anyone? If so, who?
Oliver is named after my grandfather, and Seth is my great uncle, Ari is after my husband's grandfather and Samuel is a family name. Jillian is after a friend of mine and Ivy is just a name we loved!

Did you know the meaning before you choose the name?
Yes, we knew the meanings beforehand.

Who helped in picking the name?
Just my husband and I.

Did you use a book or website to help pick the names?
Yes we did

Is there anything you would like to add about how you named your baby?
Naming 3 singles was a lot easier than triplets!

So there is her interview! Look for part 2 in the coming weeks. If you would like to be interviewed let me know in the comments or send me an email at renanneliesedavidson@gmail.com! Bye for now :)

Mom Interview: Stephanie and Juliette

Hey all! I didn’t have a Mom Interview last week because time got the best of me but I do have one this week! This week is a fellow baby namer, Stephanie! Her youtube is AnastasiaRuby. She was the very first baby namer I watched on youtube and she showed me that there were other namers out there. Now she has a beautiful daughter named Juliette. To see how she chose Juliette’s name keep reading!
Sweet Little Juliette
What is your baby's name (Include middle if you like)?
Juliette Elena

Do you have any nicknames you use?
Jette

What names did you have picked out for the other gender?
We were deciding between Holden and Lucian.

Was the baby named after anyone? If so, who?
Elena is a combination of the sounds in Elizabeth (my mother-in-law's middle name) and Dana (my mom's first name).

Did you know the meaning before you choose the name?
Yes, but it wasn't important to me.

Who helped in picking the name?
Just my husband and I.

Did you use a book or website to help pick the names?
Nope

Is there anything you would like to add about how you named your baby?
We wanted a name that was recognizable but not popular. We chose the French spelling because of my French-Canadian background.

How did you loving baby names affect the way you choose Juliette's name and were you ever afraid you wouldn't love her name anymore?
It was difficult to put all the other names I love aside and just choose one! Once in a while, I imagine what it would be like if we had given her one of my other favourite names, but I've never worried that I picked the wrong one, or that I'd stop liking the name Juliette. I like it so much more now that I associate it with my beautiful baby girl :)

I added in the last question because I felt like it fit and was a great question to ask. I really enjoyed getting to interview someone I look up to. I hope you all enjoyed this interview and be sure to check out her channels. Bye for now :)

Mom Interview: Shannon and Alice

Little Alice Leigh!
Hey everyone! Welcome back for the next Mom Interview! I’m sorry the post before this one is Mom Interview but I didn’t have time this week to post anything. I am really working on that and trying my very best to get on a schedule. Today’s mom Interview is Shannon! I found her on tumblr and had a great time interviewing her! So let’s get started.

What is your baby(ies) name(s) (Include middle if you like)?
Our daughter is named Alice Leigh
Do you have any nicknames you use?
Not really, outside from the terms of endearment like "honey," and "baby girl." Well, I suppose she does have one. We call her Duckie every now and then, and that was her nickname in the womb. I expect as she gets older she'll be called Aly.
What names did you have picked out for the other gender?
I had my heart set on Desya Ivan. However, my fiance wasn't fond of it, so we ended up opting for Korben Desya. Needless to say, that's going to be what our next child will be named if we have a son!
Was the baby named after anyone? If so, who?
My Mom's best friend's mother. She was a huge influence in my life growing up, and she was the most perfect woman I ever knew. I loved her so much, and it just tore me apart inside when she lost the battle to cancer. I only hope she's looking down at us from Heaven, and feels the same amount of pride that I do in my daughter.
Did you know the meaning before you choose the name?
Yes. Alice means "noble" and "sweet," both of which I expect my child will be later on in life, if she's anything like her parents. Leigh means "from the meadow or wood," which basically makes her name kind of fairy-ish. "Noble from the meadow or wood?" Sounds like a nymph to me! (and she very much acts like one.)
Who helped in picking the name?
It's a little embarrassing to admit, but I had my heart set on this name pretty much out of high school, when I decided that one day I would like a family. It basically became "this it the name I want, you deal with it."
Did you use a book or website to help pick the names?
Not at all. I did when I was looking for boy's names, but I just knew with her.
Is there anything you would like to add about how you named your baby?
I was definitely looking for a more uncommon name that didn't have weird spelling. Her name came to me as just something that was so pretty, yet uncommon. So luckily for her, when she gets into school, she won't be the fifth or sixth one with her name. Maybe it'll save her the embarrassment later on in life of "your name is spelled how?"

So there is Shannon’s interview. Here is her tumblr: http://rotersteinsonne.tumblr.com/. I really enjoyed reading all of her answers and getting a little insight on how she picked her names. I personally love the name Alice. I hope everyone liked this and don’t forget to comment. Bye for now :)
