We are slowly but surely finishing this series. I really found some names on this list that I love and a few that I have featured in past or future post and videos. Can you guess any of the future topics?! I guess you'll just have to wait and see. Now on to the names. 

Rae

• Meaning: Short form of Rachel; Ewe
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Tess and Can

Rae is one of those unisex names I can see on both genders. This spelling makes it a lot more feminine though. You can find Rae most often used in the middle name spot or as a nickname. 

Rafaela

• Meaning: God Heals
• Origin: Hebrew 
• Siblings: Mariela and Florian

Rafaela is a gorgeous Latina name. I featured it on my list of great alternatives for Gabriella and Isabella. You can spell this a few ways, Rafaella, and Raphaela. 

Raine

• Meaning: Queen 
• Origin: French 
• Siblings: Eden and Gage

Raine is such pretty nature name. The E on the end makes it much more unique and rare. I personally like it spelled Rain. If you like Rain/Raine but want a longer name Lorraine works perfectly. 

Ramona

• Meaning: Wise Protector 
• Origin: Spanish 
• Siblings: Loretta and Barton

Ramona is such a sweet name. I think of the literary character Ramona Beauzes. The name is fit for a girly girl or a tomboy. She is one of the few names on this list that is truly rare not even ranking in the top 1000 for 2014. 

Randi

• Meaning: Diminutive of Miranda; Admirable, Wonderful
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Tasha and Dusty

Randi is a nickname that you don't hear very often on either a boy or a girl. It resembles names of the 80s. In today's world, Randi would be a nice nickname for a little girl. It follows the feel of Andi, which I've been hearing more often. 

Reba

• Meaning: Short form of Rebecca, a snare
• Origin: Hebrew 
• Siblings: Rosie and Gus

Reba is a great alternative and a great way to honor a Rebecca. We all have at least one Rebecca in our lives. The only down fall to Reba is the high associated with the TV show baring the same name. 

Renata

• Meaning: Born Again
• Origin: Latin
• Siblings: Daria and Carlo

Renata is a name used wide across Europe and is great for the world traveler. It came back tot he US in 2011 after being out of the charts since the early 80s. I think this is a great name and very different. I love the way it looks.

I have some "rare" P boy names for you. I was just thinking about it and we only have 10 letters left! That's not a whole lot. I love this series but it has taken such a long time to finish.

Palmer

• Meaning: Pilgrim
• Origin: English
• Siblings: Avis and Truman

I love the name Palmer for a girl and I'm not opposed to it on a boy. I think it fits in perfectly with the other unisex -er names. Palm is a cool, nature nickname. Palmer reminds me of the name Asher because they are both unisex, -er names an both have nature nickname.

Pax

• Meaning: Peace

I'm such a sucker for names that have an X in them. I think X's are such cool, rare letters. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt used Pax for their little boy and I think that is where most people have heard about the name. I think the meaning is pretty cool too.

Percy

• Siblings: Winifred and Willis

There really isn't much information on the meaning of the name Percy. I think of Percy Jackson the character from the popular books and movie bearing the same name. Percy would make a great nickname to Percival.

Perry

• Meaning: Pear Tree

I was first introduced to the name Perry when he Disney show Phineas and Ferb came out. It is the name of the platypus. I think its a nice name and all I can picture is a man from English. A very posh English man in a business suit.

Phineas

• Meaning: Oracle

• Siblings: Beatrix and Gideon

Just like Perry, I first heard of Phineas on the Disney show. I really love the name. It's a great alternative to the ever popular name Finn. You could even use Finn as a nickname. It also ends in S, which I love.

I'm back with some "rare" P girl names for you. You'll find that soon of these animus are rally rare while others are not. Tell me what you think of these names!

Patrice

• Meaning: Variant of Patricia; Nobleman 
• Origin: Latin 
• Siblings: Colette and Philip

I really love the name Patrice. I think it is a fresh feel to the name Patricia. Its also a great way to honor a Patrick. Patrice is actually a unisex name but I think it fits better on a girl than a boy.

Pauline

• Meaning: Feminine form of Paul; Small
• Origin: French 
• Siblings: Bernice and Stanley

Pauline can be considered a vintage name and I wouldn't be opposed to see her gain some popularity. I use to not like Pauline but its really been growing on me lately. I like elegant sound it has.

Pearl

• Meaning: Pearl 
• Origin: Latin 
• Siblings: Olive and Otto

I love Pearl for a few reasons. Pearl works great in the middle ahem spot because it is one syllable and matches well with a  ton of names. I like that it is classical sounding. The gem pearl is significant to me because it is the gem of my sorority.

Peggy

• Meaning: Diminutive of Margaret; Pearl 
• Origin: Greek 
• Siblings: Sue and Jerry

I would be extremely surprised to meet a baby named Peggy. I can see a little girl being named Margaret, the common full name for Peggy, but a parent would more likely to choose the nickname Maggie than Peggy. It would take a lot of getting use to to see Peggy on a little baby but it could still work.

Penny

• Meaning: Diminutive of Penelope; Weaver
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Connie and Mitch

I think Penny makes a great nickname for Penelope but I'm not a huge fan of it on its own. It does make me think of the tv show, The Big Bang Theory.

Petra

• Meaning: Stone, Rock 
• Origin: Greek 
• Siblings: Adela and Rudolph

I love Petra! It's so unique sounding but I can see it fitting in with some names of today like Aria, Cassandra, and Kiera. It is also culturally diverse and works well in many countries. It's a great name for a baby of world travelers.

Philomena

• Meaning: Friend of Strength 
• Origin: Greek 
• Siblings: Theodora and Casimir

I love Philomena so much. It has been in my top 20 names for years now. It's a great Greek name with a great meaning. It is also the name of a saint. The nickname Pippa makes me love the name even more.

Phyllis

• Meaning: Foliage 
• Origin: Greek 
• Siblings: Marilyn and Eugene

Phyllis is a classic old lady name I don't see coming back. This could make a comeback in 50+ years but I don't see it gaining popularity any time soon. I think its a cool name but a little too old lady sounding. It falls into the category with Mildred, a classic name that you want to love but just can't.

Pippa

• Meaning: Diminutive of Philippa; Lover of Horses
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Esme and Alec

Did you think of Pippa Middleton immediately? Well that's not such a bad thing. Pippa Middleton is a beautiful woman and the sister to a Prince. I think Pippa is such a cute name. It can definitely stand on its own or be used as a nickname for Philippa or Philomena.

Polly

• Meaning: Variant of Molly; bitter 
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Kitty and Hal

Polly makes me think of either a parrot or the Polly Pocket toys. I think it is truly rare and if it is used it is mostly used as a nickname. It'd be cute to have a really cute girl running around with the nickname Polly.

Portia

• Meaning: Pig
• Origin: Latin
• Siblings: Camilla and Lysander

Portia is a name fit for a rich business owner. It screams success. I like Portia but I could never see myself using the name. Portia was first used by William Shakespeare so you can imagine just how old the ahem is.

"Rare" O Names

The "rare" series is back up again! It's crazy to think about how long I have been doing this series. Hopefully the series will be done by the end of this summer if not by the middle. The letter O is going to be done a little bit different than the normal "rare" post. I usually make separate post for girls and boys but because there were only 3 names for each gender I thought I'd just do it as one post. This post was filled with some pretty cool and actually rare names. So without farther ado here are the O names.

Girls
Olga

• Meaning: Holy, Blessed 
• Origin: Russian 
• Siblings: Irina and Boris

Olga is definitely a rare name and I have yet to meet a baby or even an adult with this name. I think part of the reason is because it is so out there and you really have to be Russian or Scandinavian to use Olga.

Olympia

• Meaning: From Mount Olympus 
• Origin: Greek 
• Siblings: Araminta and Cassius

I love Olympia! Greek names are one of my favorite origins and I also really love names associated with mythology. Ollie/Olly would be a cute nickname along with Mia and Pia.

Orly

• Meaning: Light 
• Origin: Hebrew 
• Siblings: Tova and Noam

I'm a huge fan of nicknames and Orly is no exception. It works great on it's own but for me I prefer it as a nickname. If you're looking for full names for Orly there is Oriana, Orabella or Orlain.

Boys
Orville

• Meaning: Gold Town 
• Origin: French 
• Siblings: Verna and Wilfred

I think of popcorn as soon as I hear the name Orville but I still love it a lot. It a vintage name for me and I feel like it would be cool to see Orville used more often. I'll let you guys be the judge and decide if you want to see little Orvilles running around.

Otis

• Meaning: Wealth 
• Origin: German 
• Siblings: Leola and Amos

Otis is a very spunky name. It has a lot of associations like as a surname, a celebrity baby name, and even a Disney name. It works well for many different ages and nationalities. I have been seeing boy names ending in s gaining popularity and attention lately. Otis fits in with them.

Otto

• Meaning: Wealth 
• Origin: German 
• Siblings: Elsa and Roscoe

Otto is almost identical to Otis but has a more boyish feel with eh O ending. It does make me think of a dog because I have seen dogs amend Otto but than again Bailey and Sam are used on dogs. I'd love to meet a little Otto.

"Rare" N Boy Names

Can anyone remember the last "rare" name post I did because I surely can't! I definitely missed making this posts and alway put them off simply because they usually have a ton of names to them. This time wasn't too bad and I was already on a blogging roll so I thought I would just go for it. I was actually reintroduced to some great names.

Napoleon

• Meaning: Lion of the New City 
• Origin: Greek
• Siblings: Zola and Ferdinand

Napoleon is definitely a rare because of the movie Napoleon Dynamite and the political leader Napoleon Bonaparte. They aren't exactly the best people to name a baby after. I also believe this name is extremely big for a little baby. If I was to meet a Napoleon I would be shocked and proud of the parents for being different.


Ned

• Meaning: Pet form of Edward meaning wealthy guardian 
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Rosie and Roy

Ned Declassification School Survival Guide anyone? That was one of my favorite childhood shows. I still think Ned is such a sweet little old man name for a baby. Paired with Edward and you are golden.


Nicholson

• Meaning: Son of Nicol
• Origin: English
• Siblings: Maribel and Broderick

Nicholson is a great alternative to the name Nicholas. I'm all for honoring too so this fits that category. I'm really loving Nicholson for some reason right now. Maybe its the fact that its a long name or maybe its because its a surname. If anyone knows a Nicholson be sure to let me know.


Niles

• Meaning: Son of Neil
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Portia and Clive

Boy names that end with an s seem to be all the rage lately. Niles would be a nice fit with them. Nile without the s is the name of a river and this name could double as a place name. I'm really liking the simplicity of Niles.


Nils (NEELS)

• Meaning: Variant of Nicholas meaning people of victory 
• Origin: Norwegian 
• Siblings: Else and Lars

Nils is another great way to honor a Nicholas. It can even honor a Neil as well. I also believe it fits with the boy names that end with s. I do like Niles better than Nils though.


Noam (NOHM. NOH-em)

• Meaning: Pleasant 
• Origin: Hebrew 
• Siblings: Tova and Elan

Did anyone else think Noah when they heard this name? I did and I thought it was such a cool variant of Noah. I think both pronunciations are pretty great. If I had to pick one it would be NOHM. Something about this name just draws me in and makes me love it.


Norman

• Meaning: Northman, Norseman 
• Origin: French
• Siblings: Wilma and Marvin

Norman falls into the old man chic names. I do hear a lot of people talking about old man names but I very rarely hear them talking about Norman. It may be a little unusable because of the Norman Bates association.

"Rare" N Girl Names

Nell

• Meaning: Diminutive form of Ellen or Helen; bright, shining one
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Evie and Theo

I enjoy the name Nell greatly. To me it is the cutest little girl nickname that can grow nicely with her. Some of my favorite full names for it are Penelope, Eleanor, and Cornelia. I would prefer it spelled Nelle, which is a less common spelling of the name. You could also use the name Nella, which I love even more than Nell.

Niamh (NEEV)

• Meaning: Bright 
• Origin: Irish 
• Siblings: Aoife and Niall

Niamh is the Irish spelling of the name but you can also spell it Neve. I love this name but I'm too afraid that it would never be pronounced correctly in the United States. The meaning is very nice and cute. I always get happy when names have good meanings. If anyone is brave enough to use Niamh let me know!

Norma

• Meaning: Rule 
• Origin: Latin 
• Siblings: Doris and Ralph

Norma is one of those vintage names that I just can't see coming back into popularity. It sounds very old lady to me. Plus with todays popular names it sounds extremely similar to Nora. I almost mistakes it for Nora at first. Now putting Norma in the middle name spot would be golden!

"Rare" M Boy Names

I'm back on the "rare" names! After months we are finally off the letter M and next post will be the letter N!

Mack

• Meaning: Son of 
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Fay and Gus

I think Mack is a really cute name. I had the name Mack on my girl name list about a year ago and now it's on my guilty pleasure list. Mack makes a better nickname than as a full name to me. Some full name options include Macallister, Mackenzie, and Macormic but are not limited to them.

Magnus

• Meaning: Great
• Origin: Latin
• Siblings: Linnea and Ramsay

The first thing I think of when I see Magnus is Matilda. Ms. Honey's father was names Magnus. Now a days you wouldn't meet too many Magnus but it is something you might hear on a grandfather. If you wanted to make a name sound vintage, you can use Magnus as a middle name.

Mahlon (MAY-len)

• Meaning: Sickly
• Origin: Hebrew
• Siblings: Adah and Freeman

Before doing this post I had never heard of Mahlon. I used the pronunciation from the book but at first sight I would say m-uh-lone. I think this is a pretty cool name but the meaning is really bad. If meaning doesn't mean anything to you that it shouldn't be a problem but meaning matters to me so that turns me off.

Marius

• Meaning: Derived from Mars; male
• Origin: Latin
• Siblings: Verena and Rainer

Marius is definitely a rare name. I've never heard it before but I think it's kind of cool. It sounds like Lucius and really reminds me of it. I don't think I would use it.

Merle (MERL)

• Meaning: Blackbird
• Origin: French 
• Siblings: Beryl and Hoyt

Merle sounds like a short form of Merlin, I really feel like it isn't complete and like I should be saying something another sound. I'm not a huge fan.

Merlin

• Meaning: Sea Fortress 
• Origin: Welsh
• Siblings: Ardith and Newton

I think of Merlin the wizard from King Arthur's time. I think that is what most people will think of and is one of the reasons this name is so rare. I really don't see this on a little baby and can't see it making a comeback.

Moe

• Meaning: Short form of Maurice or Morris 
• Origin: English 
• Sibling: Bess and Nat

Moe is one of my favorite nicknames on both a boy and a girl. I think I like it better on a girl because it doesn't sound like an old lady name where as on a boy it sounds like an old man. My favorite full names for the nickname Moe is Moses. I love Moses and love that it's biblical. I've recently started to fall in love with biblical names more.

Montgomery

• Meaning: Gumarih's Hill
• Origin: Norman
• Siblings: Cordelia and Carlyle

I love Montgomery and have it on my middle name list. I wouldn't have the courage to use it as a first name. It's a brave name for me. One of the reasons is because its such a distinct surname.  In the popular show, Pretty Little Liars it is the last name of one of the main characters.

Morris

• Meaning: Variant of Maurice; Dark-skinned
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Golda and Sherman

Surprisingly enough I really like this name. I don't think I like it enough to use it but enough that it catches my eye. Morris definitely has a vintage feel, something you would find in the top 100 for the 30's or 40's.

Mose

• Meaning: Variant of Moses
• Origin: German
• Siblings: Cleo and Dock

I said a few names before that i love the name Moses and Mose is just like it. Again Mose is a name that I feel like I should be saying another syllable or saying someone's nickname. It looks really cool and complete though.

Murphy

• Meaning: Descendant of Murchadh
• Origin: Irish
• Siblings: Connolly and Miller

Murphy is a great surname that works good as a first or middle name. You really don't see Murphy much. I do have to say that I see it more on a dog than I do on a human. Murphy may be going on my guilty pleasure list.

"Rare" M Girl Names Part 2

I haven't done a "rare" name post in a few months. One of the reasons is they take a lot of time and effort to write them up. I hope you like this post.

Matilda

• Meaning: Mighty in Battle 
• Origin: German 
• Siblings: Adelaide and Leopoldo

I love the name Matilda. My favorite movie of all time is Matilda and that may have something to do with it. Its a really sweet name with cute nicknames. If I had to pick one nickname for Matilda it would be Tilly.  

Mattea (mah-TAY-uh)

• Meaning: Gift of God
• Origin: Hebrew 
• Siblings: Rafaela and Enzo

Mattea is such a strong name but it reminds me of Matteo too much. I knew two Matteos so that could be the reason. I like how simpler it is to Madison and Madeleine but is also different. 

Maude

• Meaning: Powerful Battler
• Origin: German and English 
• Siblings: Olive and August

I'm not a huge fan of Maude. The sound of it is not very pleasant sounding. To me it sounds more like a word than a name or something you wold name your little girl. 

Maura

• Meaning: Dark Skinned
• Origin: Latin
• Siblings: Bridget and Rory

I love the name Maura. Its different but sounds so beautiful. It sounds fresh and clean. If you would like to honor a Laura you could always use Maura. There are a few different ways to pronounce the name Maura. I like the pronunciation Mare-uh but you may also say more-uh. 

Maureen

• Meaning: Variant of Mary (Hebrew, Bitter)
• Origin: Irish 
• Siblings: Kathleen and Roger

Maureen is such a pretty name. I really like this name because it is a nice sound that you don't hear very often. I do have a second cousin named Maureen who goes by Moe. Mo/Moe is such a cute nickname for a little girl. 

Maxine

Meaning: Latin

Origin: Greatest

Siblings: Lorraine and Doyle
You hear Max a lot on a boy but not very often on a girl. Maxine can give you that Max nickname, which I think would be cute and unexpected. I can't really picture Maxine on a little baby but I can picture it on a girl or adult.

May

• Meaning: Pearl
• Origin: Greek
• Siblings: Belle and Theo

I like May. It's short and sweet. I think the Mae spelling is nicer. It looks a lot fresher and more girly. You can use May as a nickname for Maybelle, Mayra. Mayla, or Mabel. If you want to honor someone who was born in May this is a great way. 

Mehitabel (meh-HIT-uh-behl)

• Meaning: God Makes Happy
• Origin: Hebrew
• Siblings: Leocadia and Algernon

Before doing this series I had never heard of Mehitabel. It's definitely different. It sounds pretty but I'm not sure how much I like the spelling. The first thing I think about when I hear Mehitabel is how it has the same Belle ending as the popular name Isabelle. Maybe it the word hit wasn't int eh name it would become more popular. 

Melia (meh-LEE-uh, MEE-lee-uh)

• Origin: Greek 
• Siblings: Calla and Aris

Melia is another really pretty name. I like the meh-LEE-uh pronunciation. The name Leah is really popular and Melia is such a nice alternative. Melly is a cute nickname for Melia. It's a very rich name also.

Melinda 

• Meaning: Sweet
• Origin: Latin
• Siblings: Rochelle and Brent

Melinda is a dated name that I can see making a come back. It's very pretty sounding. Lindy is more of a modern name and you can always use Lindy as a nickname. I like that you wouldn't expect to se the name Melinda on a young child. It gives the name a little thrill. 

Melisande (MEH-li-sahnd)

• Meaning: Form of Millicent 
• Origin: French
• Siblings: Evangeline and Peregrine 

Melisande is such a beautiful name! It looks and sounds so pretty. I like how you can honor a Melissa or Melanie. My only real concern with Melisande is that its too big and grand for a little girl. I mean she could grow into it or just use a nickname. 

Mercy

• Meaning: Wages, Rewards
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Joy and Judah

I love the name Mercy! Many virtue names are being used now such as Faith, and Hope. I think Mercy would be a great alternative to the popular names. It works as both a first name and a middle name. Mercy is a lovely quality to have. 

Merry

• Meaning: Cheerful
• Origin: English
• Siblings: Cinda and Garry

The first thing I think about when I see the name Merry is Christmas. I don't exactly see Merry as a name for a little girl. I would much prefer is spelled Meri or Merri if it was going to be used. 

Mildred

• Meaning: Gentle Strength 
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Gladys and Wilbur

Mildred is one of those old lady names that I feel will never come back to style like many other names. It just sounds extremely dated and it also doesn't sound very pleasant. The only way I would be ok with this name is if the nickname Milly was used. 

Millicent

• Meaning: Strong in Work
• Origin: German 
• Siblings: Winifred and Ernest

Just like Mildred, Millicent is an old lady name that is not going to come back into style. I would be extremely surprised if it did. I do think it is a little nicer than Mildred but not much. Milly is a cute nickname though. And now that I think about it I feel like a little girl would be made fun of if she was named Millicent. 

Mimi

• Meaning: Diminutive of Maria 
• Origin: Italian 
• Siblings: Kiki and Rico

I love the nickname Mimi! It's so cute and girly. Now I don't think it ages well but if its used with a nice full name it would be ok. I like the names Mila, Amelia, and Camilla as full names for the nickname Mimi. 

Mindy

• Meaning: Diminutive of Melinda 
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Traci and Dusty

Mindy is a nice, surprising nickname but at the same time it is a little dated. You really don't hear many little girls named Mindy anymore. I don't love Mindy but I don't hate it either. It's just a name that its ok. 

Minerva (mi-NER-vuh)

• Meaning: The mind 
• Origin: Latin
• Siblings: Althea and Hermes

Minerva is such a gorgeous name! I love it. Minerva sounds like a grand, princess name. I think the nickname Mimi would be really cute. Minerva was the goddess of wisdom, skill, and invention in Roman mythology. I'm not into mythology much but i find that to be a great association for a child. 

Misty

• Meaning: Misty

• Siblings: Fawn and Dirk

Misty is a really cute nickname for something like Melissa but I don't really like it on it's own. I know that Misty was a little popular back in the 70's but I feel like it could come back. Now, I do picture this one someone in there 30's or so. 

Muriel (MYOO-ree-sl) 

• Meaning: Bright as the Sea
• Origin: Irish 
• Siblings: Sybil and Wallace

When I look at this name I have trouble pronouncing it but after I hear the pronunciation I am able to say it with no problems. If you remember the show Suite Life of Zack and Cody, than you'll remember the housekeeper named Muriel. I can not see this name on a little baby at all. It's too old-fashioned to me. It sounds nice on a little old lady but not on a young child. 

Myra

• Meaning: Myrrh

• Siblings: Lorna and Hal

I like Myra because it isn't something you hear very often but it isn't something that is really uncommon. I like the y in the name. Letters like y, w, and x give names a cool look and feel. Myra would also be a great alternative to Maya, a more popular name.

I'm back to blogging about the "rare" names. We are up to M girl names. Because there are so many M girl names I had to split them into 2 posts. Let's see what "rare" names we have for girls.

Baby Margo Source

Mabel

• Meaning: Lovable 
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Elsie and Archie

Mabel is such a sweet name. It's really cute and a little old fashioned. I find this name to be great on all ages. 

Madigan 

• Meaning: Little Dog
• Origin: Irish 
• Siblings: Adair and Finnegan 

I love Madigan because it is a great alternative to all of the popular Maddy names, such as Madison and Madeline. The meaning isn't a nice meaning but I don't see that as a big deal. 

Madonna

• Meaning: My lady 
• Origin. Italian 
• Siblings: Carmela and Rocco

I don't think Madonna is useable because of how popular Madonna, the singer, is but you could always use it as a middle name. 

Mae

• Meaning: The fifth month 
• Origin: English 
• Siblings: Pearl and Gus

Mae is a beautiful name. I know a lot of people us it as a middle name and it's sweet that way. I do like the Mae spelling because it looks girlier 

Magnolia

• Meaning: Magnol's Flower 
• Origin: Latin 
• Siblings: Clementine and Fletcher

I absolutely love Magnolia. It's so pretty and one of the less popular flower names. If you like the nickname Maggie but don't want to use Margaret, this is a great name for you. I love the nicknames Maggie, Nola, and Nolie. 

Maisie

• Meaning: Diminutive of Margaret (pearl)

Marcia is another name I really like. It's unique enough that you don't hear it too much but not too unique that no one will know how to pronounce it. Marcie works as a nickname for this name also.

I really like this name but only as a nickname. I really prefer it spelled Marcie.

Margarita is another grand name but I love it. The meaning is great and it ages well. I love te name Reed on a girl and you can use it as a nickname for Margarita.

I think Margo is a great name. It's spunky but vintage at the same time. If you wanted you could use it as a nickname for Margaret. I find that really cute and different.

I'm not a huge fan of Margierite for some reason. I much prefer Margaret and Margarita.

"Rare" L Boy Names

Happy Monday everyone! As usual I have another "rare" series for you. Unlike the last "rare" series this one isn't as long. I have to say that there are some pretty good names in this list. Read on to find out!

Baby Linus!

Lachaln

• Meaning: Irish
• Origin: From the land of lakes
• Siblings: Catriona and Gregor

I love Lachlan. I have been seeing more people look and talk about Lachlan. There is one problem with Lachlan and that is pronunciation. It's pronounced Lock-lyn not Latch-lynn. I still find this a really great name. It's strong and a nice Irish name that isn't popular.

Lazarus

• Meaning: God is my help

• Siblings: Salome and Bartholomew

Lazarus is an amazing name. It is a great biblical name. I like that it contains a Z. The Z gives it a little bit of an edge. When I look for nicknames I see a few really cool ones. There is Laz, Zary, and even Zeus. I think my favorite is Zeus.

Leander

• Origin: Greek
• Siblings: Camilla and Thaddeus

I love Leander! At one point it was in my top 10. It ends in -er like a lot of boy names, which makes it very appealing. Leander also sounds like Alexander but without the added popularity. I like the nicknames Lee or Ander for Leander. I also find Leander to be really strong but than again I think most Greek names are strong.

Leif (LAYF, LEEF, LIYF)

• Siblings: Dania and Aric

Leif is really cute! It's different but not super out there. Leif is a nice nature name and not too popular either. I like how short and sweet it is. I do think people are afraid to use it because it is very nature-y. If you are afraid to use it as a first name it is great as a middle name. Leif is one syllable and goes with so many names.

Lemuel (LEHM-yoo-el)

• Siblings: Bethel and Ephron

I don't really like Lemuel. It looks and sounds too strange to me and that is a lot for me to say. I feel like a lot of people will mispronounce it. It's really a little too unique for someone in the United Sates.

Lennox

• Siblings: Tierney and Beckett

I love Lennox! It is such a cool baby name! I do like it on both a girl and a boy. I think it works for both but it is more popular for a boy. I love the x ending. It gives Lennox an edge. It's very sophisticated. Lennox reminds me of a business man. Overall a great name.

Leopold (LEE-uh-pohld)

Leopold is so, so strong! It makes me think of a ruler of a country in Europe. I find the name Leo to be so adorable. I really like Leopold as a full name for the nickname for Leo. It's a lot more unique than all of the other Leo names. I do think it ages ok, not great but okay.

Linus

The first thing I think of is Linus from Charlie Brown. I feel like a lot of people will think of him. Even with that I still really like Linus. I think it is vintage-y and nice. The only real problem I see is it really reminds me of a nerd and I think some people will think that too. Really it's a cute name.

Lionel

The first thing I think of when I hear Lionel is the trains. I haven't had much exposure to the trains but that is the first thing I think of. I do see that as a teasing factor. I think Lionel is really cute but maybe used only as a middle name. I'm not the biggest of it.

Lloyd (LOYD)

• Meaning: Gray-haired; sacred 
• Origin. Welsh
• Siblings: Velma and Willard

I think Lloyd is a really cute name but I do have some problems with it. One is it is really dated to me. The other really only applies to me and that is the only Lloyd I have heard of is a dog. I really think of dogs when I hear it. Maybe if I see a little boy with Lloyd I would like it more for a person.

Lon (LAHN)

• Meaning: Diminutive of Alonso (noble)
• Origin: Spanish 
• Siblings: Nita and Hal

I love Lon as a nickname just not as a full name. Some names where Lon can be a nickname is Alonso/Alonzo, Thelonius, or Solon. It's really short and sweet. Lon also ages well from a baby to an elderly person.

Lorne (LOHRN)

• Siblings: Rhonda and Pernell

I'm not really a fan of Lorne. It reminds me of a girl too much and I don;t think it would be good for a little boy, although it is a boy name. I also think it is a little too old-fashioned.

Lucius

Lucius is so manly! I really like it with the nickname Luke. It really reminds me of dark things. I think this is a name that ages REALLY well. I can see it on all ages without it being to much for a baby or too cutesy for an adult.

Luther

• Siblings: Estelle and Claude

I think Luther is really old sounding. It also makes me think of Martin Luther King, Jr. If you want to honor MLK, than Luther is the perfect name for you. Really I think Luther would be too strong for a baby.

Lyle

• Siblings: Roma and Doyle

I really like Lyle. The first time I heard it was on 16 and Pregnant when Nikkole Paulun named her son Lyle. As soon as I heard it I fell in love! It was so cool sounding and so different. I really like that it's not too different because it sounds so much like Kyle. It's definitely something I would like to see more.

"Rare" L Girl Names

Baby Linnea! Just how I pictured a Linnea!

This "rare" series has a TON of names! I counted and there are 29 names in total! I was really surprised at how many names there are for the letter L. My full name begins with L so I do think L names are nice :). So let's get started with all of these names!

Landry

• Meaning- Ruler
• Origin- French and English
• Sibling- Oakley and Madden

Landry is such a cute, spunky name! I first heard it on a forum board, where a set of twins were named Landry and Hudson. I fell in love with the name and added it to my list. I do find one problem with Landry. It is very similar to Laundry. I feel like that is what a lot of people think of. I still like it, despite that problem.

Lark

• Sibling- Wren and Flint

Lark is a gorgeous bird name. With Wren becoming more popular, I can see a lot more people liking Lark since they are so similar. I do think some people might say its not girly enough. It does have a little edge to it with the sharp k but paired with a elegant middle name it would be great on a girl.It would be nice to see a little Lark.

Lashonda

I don't like Lashonda. I'm not really a fan of La- names. Shonda would be much better and even than I don't like it all that much. It's not my style but I do know some people like it.

Latasha

I don't like Latasha either. I do really like Tasha, which surprises me. Natasha would be much better in my opinion.

LaToya

The first thing I think if when I hear the name LaToya is LaToya Jackson. I'm not a fan of LaToya Jackson and I think that is why I don't like the name all that much. I also don't like the name because it is another La- name. Out of the 3 La- names I like LaTIya the most.

Lavinia

• Meaning- mother of the Romans
• Origin- Latin and Spanish
• Siblings- Ariadne and Everett

I love Lavinia! It is so gorgeous and so different. It reminds me a lot of Olivia and could be a great alternative to it. They both have v's and the -ia sound at the end. As for nicknames you could go with Vinny. I know some people really like boyish nicknames for girls, such as Bobby and Billy. Other than that I don't see many other nicknames. It is a grand and elegant name and overall beautiful.

Leanne

• Origin- English
• Siblings- Annmarie and Rusty

Leanne is very southern and old-fashioned. It isn't too old-fashioned that it would be too much for a baby. Surprisingly I really like this name. I have never met a Leanne of any age but I did go to school with a Leanna. Her name seemed to fit her very well and wasn't too old for our age. It's cute and sweet.

Lee

I'm not really a fan of this spelling of Lee for a few reasons. The first one is Lee spelled this way is really masculine. Also, it looks incomplete to me. I always think names that end in e look incomplete, almost like you for got a letter. Lee sounds like a nickname too much. I would like it a lot more if it was a nickname for something like Leanne.

Leigh (LEE)

• Origin- English and Gaelic
• Siblings- Kerry and Brent

I love this spelling of Leigh! It looks more complete and it is really girly. If I met a girl with this spelling of Leigh, I would really like it. Although I really like this name, I would much prefer it as a nickname. If I was going to use it as a nickname I would use the Leigh spelling but spell the name Leanne. It could still really work.

Leona

I love Leona! It is a gorgeous name. It's very different but not too different as to where it isn't nice. Leona first appeared on the top 1000 charts in 2009 and since then it has stayed in the 900's. I feel like a lot more people would like this name because it is so similar to Fiona and I know a lot of people like Fiona. It also has the added bonus of sounding the same but not having the Shrek and ogre association. Overall Leona is a great name.

Leora (lay-OHR-uh)

• Siblings- Ione and Theo

Leora has two pronunciations. The one I have listed here is from the book and the less popular one. The other one is lee-or-uh and the one I like and use. I think a lot more people will use the lee-or-uh pronunciation because it is only one letter off from Leona and that is how Leona is pronounced. I think this name is really nice and different. It's exotic but also very girly. I can picture it on someone from Europe.

Liadan (LEE-uh-din, LEE-din)

• Origin- Gaelic
• Siblings- Adair and Colm

Liadan has two pronuncations.Out of the two I have listed I prefer the first one for a few reasons. The first reason is it sounds better with the uh sound in the middle and is easier to say. The other reason is it sounds more like a girl name that way. I do think that since this name is so different people will confuse it with a unisex name and not know the gender right away. Liadan is a very pretty name and has a little spunky feel to it.

Lillias

• Meaning- Lily
• Origin- Scottish
• Siblings- Elspeth and Evander

With Lily being so popular and having so many different alternatives, I think Lillias is the most different. I do think Lillias would be hard to pronounce. I also think Lillias sounds too much like a word name. I know a lot of people like word names but this one just sounds too wordy for me. I much prefer Lilia and Lilith if you want to go with an alternative to Lily.

Linden

• Meaning- Linden Tree
• Origin- German and English
• Siblings- Arden and Brogan

Surprisingly, I love Linden! I much prefer the spelling Lyden or Lindyn, which is so unlike me. I usually stick with the normal spellings. I think I like those spellings because they look more like a girl name than a boy. I think a lot of people will think of President linden when they hear this name but I don't see that being a big deal. The other problem I see is people not know if this is a boy or a girl at first glance. A lot more people like Linden for a boy than a girl. Besides those two small problems, I think this name is great. You could use the nickname Lindy, which I love.

Linnea (li-NAY-uh, LI-nee-uh)

• Siblings- Elsa and Magnus

Linnea is another name that has two pronunciations. Out of the two I have listed I prefer the second pronunciation. It seems to go with the spelling better and I feel like a lot more people will pronounce Linnea that way. I do know one person with this name. I met her on formspring and she is from Sweden. She has gorgeous blonde hair and that is why I think of a little blonde haired girl. I'm not sure how she pronounces her name. I feel like a lot of people will be confused at this name because of the spelling and rareness of the name. I still think it's a pretty name and I would love to met a girl with the name Linnea.

Lise (LEEZ, LEES, LEE-ze)

• Siblings- Esme and Rune

Lise has three pronunciations and I don't favor one over the other. I feel like Lise is extremely close to the name Lisa and that could be a small problem. I'm not really a fan of this name. It's too short for me and I don't like how incomplete it sounds. If your child was to have this name I feel like she would always be correcting be on how to pronounce her name. I do think it is pretty and think it would be a nice middle name.

Liviana

• Siblings- Arabella and Benedict

I love Liviana. I do prefer it spelled Livianna but either way is cute. If you like the name Olivia but think it is too common, Liviana is perfect for you. It still has the Liv sound and nickname. I do know a lot more people are liking it. I don't really see any problems with Liviana. It's gorgeous and really girly.

Liza (LIY-zuh)

• Origin- English
• Siblings- Reva and Jed

The first thing I think of when I see Liza is the name Lisa. I think some people will think you are trying to spell Lisa with a z. The other thing I see is the name Elizabeth. It is a short form of the name Elizabeth and would be a great way to honor one. I know there is the name Eliza, which is pretty popular, and Liza is the same but without the E. I knew an Eliza for four years and she was always correcting people one how ton pronounce her name. I can see the same problem with Liza. Besides that problem, I think Liza is very pretty and different. I am actually starting to like it.

Lois (LOH-is)

• Meaning- Desirable, Superior and fame, loud; fighter, warrior
• Origin- Greek and German
• Siblings- Marjorie and Roy

This name is very old fashioned and I know a lot of people are liking old fashioned names. I don't really like Lois because is seems really boyish to me. It does sound nice but just too old to me. It would make a really nice middle name and I think it would go with most names.

Loretta

• Meaning- Bay laurel
• Origin- English
• Siblings- Rosalie and Roland

Loretta is another old fashioned name but this one isn't too old fashioned to be used now. I love this name and I love the nickname Etta. I do feel like if you don't use the nickname Etta, than the name Loretta would sound a little old fashioned. I did know one Loretta and she was my neighbor's mother. She's the only Loretta I have ever met. The only other person I cam think of who is named Loretta I'd Sarah Jessica Parker's daughter.

Lori

• Origin- English
• Siblings- Dawn and Greg

I'm not a huge fan of Lori. I find Lori very dated and too much of a nickname. I can't picture it on a baby. I do think it would be okay as a nickname as opposed to a full name. If I say a little girl named Lorraine or Lorelei but called Lori I would really like it. Maybe Lori is ready for a comeback.

Lorraine

• Siblings- Maxine and Warren

I really like Lorraine! The first thing I think of when I hear the name is Cheaper by the Dozen. Hilary Duff's character was named Lorraine. The only Lorraine I have know was my cousin's grandmother. After she passed away, her son named his twins Raina and Jude, Raina after Lorraine. That brings me to the nickname options. You could use Lori, Raine or Raina. My favorite is Rain/Raine. I really don't think it is too old sounding. Lorraine could also make a great middle name because it goes with a lot of names.

Lottie

• Siblings- Mae and Archie

I love Lottie as a nickname but not on it's own. The only full name I can think of for Lottie is Charlotte, which is really popular. I would use Charlotte with the nickname Lottie even though Charlotte is popular because most Charlotte's go by Charlie and Lottie would be really rare. I do think some people like Lottie on it's own and if you were going to do that I would chose a longer middle name that the child could use if they wanted a more adult name. Lottie is overall cute and fun.

Louisa

Louisa is really elegant and pretty. I do prefer Louise better. Louisa feels like you throw the a on at the end. It would make a great middle name and not something expected. It does remind me of someone from France or another European country. Louisa is really nice.

Louise is another old fashioned name. I do think more people will start liking Louise because a lot more people like old fashioned names. I don't think I could picture this on a baby unless it was a middle name. Lou would be such a cute nickname and on of the only reasoned I would use it.

Lourdes

• Siblings- Luz and Cruz

The first person I think of is Madonna's daughter. She is the only person I have ever heard with the name Lourdes. It's very edgy and has a rock feel to it. I think it's strong and not girly. I picture someone who likes black and punk things. Lourdes is too big for a baby or little girl. Indent think I would use it but it would be different to hear it on a baby.

Lucinda

Lucinda could go two ways. It could sound old or new. If you use the nickname Lucy it would sound really new and fresh. I love the nickname Lucy and can see it on someone of any age. The other nickname option is Cindy. If you use Cindy, it would make Lucinda sound old and dated. Out of all of the Lucy names, I think Lucida is not the first one I would pick. I think I would go with Lucille. Lucinda is nice and really pretty.

Lynn

• Siblings- Beth and Jon

Lynn is extreme dated. The only time I have heard of Lynn is as a filler middle name. I did know one Lynn who is a junior. She spelled it Lynne and when I heard her name I thought it was really dated. The only time I would think Lynn was okay as a name would be if it was a nickname. I also think you should not use it as a middle name because everyone uses it and it's boring.

Lyra

• Siblings- Briar and Ari

I love Lyra! I think it is so adorable. I have only known of one Lyra and she had really dark curly hair. She was so pretty and made me love the name. Lyra is really spunky and edgy but at the same time is still girly. I wold love to meet another Lyra.

"Rare" K Boy Names

Handsome Keane!

Hey guys! I'm back again! I know I took a little bit of a break but I was thinking that I would get into a schedule. I haven't decide what days I want to post on besides Friday. I'll post at least two times a week, if not more.

So let's get on with the post! Today is the "rare" K boy names. I was quite surprised at how few boys names there were for the list.

Keane (KEEN)

• Meaning- fighter; sharp, keen wit or eye
• Origin- Irish, and English
• Siblings- Bryce and Egan

I love the sound of Keane but the spelling could be confusing. I really don't like the spelling. I think I would spell it Keen, although it doesn't look too pretty. Keane would make a prefect middle name! It's one syllable and a lot of popular middle names are one syllable.

Kelly

• Meaning- strife, war
• Origin- Irish
• Siblings- Colleen and Shannon

I much prefer Kelly on a girl. The only Kelly's I have ever met have been girls and I think that is why I prefer Kelly on a girl. Although I prefer Kelly on a girl, I would be really happy to see it on a boy. It would be so refreshing and I believe that the name would sound so new on a boy as opposed to a girl.

Kent

• Siblings- Gwen and Todd

Kent makes a great nickname but I'm not sure how much I like it as a first name. It sounds like it belongs on someone from the south and someone who is an adult. I feel like it is too grand for a baby as just a first name. I went looking for a full name for Kent but couldn't find any. If you have suggestions leave them in the comments.

Kermit

What's the fist thing you think of when you hear the name Kermit? Is it the frog? If you said yes to that question you are not alone. I think of the green frog also and have a strong feeling that, that is what everyone will think. I really don't see this name being usable on a days. It is too associated with the frog, Kermit. 

Kip

• Origin- English
• Siblings- Penny and Robin

I love the name Kip! It's so cute and vintage. As with a lot of other names I feel like Kip is much better as a nickname. I went on a search and came up with a few possible full names. The first one is Christopher, a very normal name. The other one is a more unique name and that is Kipling. I don't really like either names, so I guess I will keep looking. 

Kirk

• Meaning- Church
• Origin- Norse and German
• Siblings- Joni and Craig

Kirk sounds very 80's to me. It also reminds me of Star Trek for some reason. I really don't like this name all too much but it's not that bad. Just like Kent, I cannot see this name on a baby. It would make a great middle name though.

Sweet Baby Kateri!

Hello! I am back!!! I'm not \sure how long I will be back but I am going to work my absolute best to post as much as I can. I know the last time I posted was over a month ago and before that I had not been posting regularly. I would like to apologize for that. I was finishing my senior year and getting ready for graduation. I really had no time to do much of anything. This whole time I have been thinking about my blog and how much I missed posting! The only problem I had was I had no time! Not that summer is here and in full swing I think I will have time to post more. I so have a lot planned for the summer so I don't think I will be posting regularly.

As for today's post I have the "rare" K names for girls! I was actually shocked that there weren't a lot of names! I was expecting more! So K is one of my favorite letters for names. Let's see what K names we have on the list!

Kateri

• Meaning- pure and torture
• Origin- Greek
• Siblings- Winema and Vitus

I really enjoy this name. I feel like it is different but not too different it be used. In the last year a woman by the name of Kateri Tekakwitha was named a saint. I believe that brought the name more attention. My favorite nickname if Teri (tear-ee).

Katia (KAHT-ye)

• Origin- Greek
• Siblings- Anya and Dimitri

I love this name! It sounds very grand and has a beautiful feel to it. I like the fact that you could use it as a name to honor a Katherine or Kate but still use something unique. If you wanted to you could use the nickname Kate.

Kay

• Meaning- pure
• Origin- Greek
• Siblings- Sue and Ted

Kay is a great nickname and very simple. It can be used for any K name really. I often see it used as a nickname for Kayla or Katherine. I can really only picture this name on a grandmother, though.

Keisha

• Meaning- Her Life
• Origin- American
• Siblings- Tasha and Kelvin

I'm not really a fan of the name Keisha. It really isn't a name go for but I still think it is pretty.

Kerri

• Meaning- black
• Origin- Irish
• Siblings- Staci and Brent

I went to school with a girl named Kerri for 4 years. I always thought her name was pretty. It's a very Irish name too. A lot of Kerri's are called Kerri Ann, which is a pretty name too.

Kia (KEE-uh)

• Meaning- Pet form of Kiana
• Origin- English and Swedish
• Siblings- Tai and Teo

I love Kia! I don't like it as a nickname for Kiana but just on its own. It's a much less popular name than Mia but still has the same feel. Kia is also a name I can see on all nationalities.

Kiki

• Meaning- New beginning, new life
• Origin- French, Spanish, German
• Siblings- Britt and Zeke

Kiki makes a sweet nickname but I don't like it on its own. It's does sound like it belongs on a pet. I do like the quirky sound it has.

Kim

• Meaning- Short for Kim- names like Kimball and Kimberly
• Origin- English
• Siblings- Beth and Greg

I'm not a fan of Kim. It sounds dates to me. I don't think I have heard a children under the age of 12 named Kim. If Kim was to be used I would much prefer it used as a nickname.


So there you have the K girl names! There was quite a few nicknames on the list and a lot of the names that really weren't that "rare". I would have to say that my favorite names were Kateri and Kia.

"Rare" Names: J Boy Names

I have some "rare" names for you today. It's the J names for boys. I'm beginning to wonder how "rare" these names are. After the last post a lot of them aren't "rare" but instead aren't in the the top 1000 any more.

Handsome Judd

Jabez (JAY-behz, JAH-behz)

• Meaning- borne in pain
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Keziah and Azriel

At first I didn't like this name but after seeing it I think I kind of like it. I don't like it enough to put it on my long list but I like it enough that I don't hate it. It's cute but also uncommon so I can see it being mispronounced and maybe misspelled all the time. You could use it as a middle name though. 

Japheth (JAY-feth, JA- feth)

• Meaning- May he expand
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Dinah and Boaz

I don't like this name. It is hard to pronounce and too out there for me. I know you are probably surprised :).  I think it's because it is a Hebrew name and I usually don't like Hebrew names.

Jed

• Meaning- Friend of God
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Nell and Kip

I love this as a nickname for Jedidiah. It also reminds me of Star Wars. I think this is a really cute name for is very edgy, if that makes any sense. As for the name as a full name, I don't like it. It's too short for me to see it as a good first name. 

Jedidiah

• Meaning- beloved by the lord
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Susannah and Zachariah

This is probably my favorite J boy name. I first heard it on 19 Kids and Counting and was like "That's a really cool name!" Since them It has always been on my long list. Jed is a cute nickname name. Although I am usually not a huge fan of both Hebrew names and names that end in the a sound for boys, Jedidiah Is an exception.

Jericho

• Siblings- Acadia and Samson

I love the name Jericho! I do know it's a city in the bible. I have seen the name Jericho used once on a little boy. Rico is so cute as nickname too.

Jethro

• Meaning-eminent
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Zilla and Amos 

I'm surprised but I really like this name. I found have to put it on my guilty pleasure list though. It's said exactly how its spelled so I don't see problems with the pronunciation. 

Joss (JAHS)

• Meaning- a member of the Germanic tribe
• Origin- German
• Siblings- Britt and Rafe

I don't like the name Joss. It looks strange to me and I just can't get the pronunciation down right.It still makes a great name if you can pronounce it right.

Judd

• Meaning- down-flowing
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Reba and Gabe

I love the name Judd! It sounds so country and cute. The Bates family from United Bates of America have a son named Judd and that was the first time I heard it. They are very country and I think that's why I picture Judd on a country boy.He was also a cute baby.

Jules

• Meaning- variant of Julius
• Origin. French
• Siblings- Alma and Giles

I'm not a fan of Jules at all. It sounds too girly and incomplete to me. I think I may like it if it was a nickname that was used only sometimes. 

Jupiter

• Meaning- the supreme god
• Origin- Latin
• Siblings- Tempest and Orion

I really can't see this name as a real name. All I can think about is the planet and space. It would make a nice middle name if you loved space.

"Rare" Names: J Girl Names

Hey all! We are back with the J girl names. I am just a posting machine lately! I found out how easy it is to post via the app. I have had the app but never know how to use it. Now I use it and get more post out! I'm loving it and I hope you are too. Anyway back to the post. I have a love hate relationship with J names. So names I love and others I can't stand. Their are times when don't like any J names. So let's get started.

Sweet pea Juniper Arwen

Jamila (jah-MIL-uh, jah-MEE-luh)

• Meaning- lovely
• Origin- Arabic
• Siblings- Ayanna and Stefan

I had never heard of Jamila better doing this post. It's really sweet and exotic. I have heard of and like the name Mila. Mila would make a perfect nickname for Jamila. Out of the 2 pronunciations I like jah-MEE-uh. It makes more sense to me because of the Mila part.

Janine

• Meaning. Simplified form of Jeannine
• Origin- English
• Siblings- Rhonda and Darren

Janine sounds very grandma to me. I can't image it on a little baby or little girl but it would make a great middle name. I'm not really liking the spelling either. 

Jeanette

• Meaning- diminutive of Jean
• Origin- French
• Siblings- Marianne and Lawrence 

Jeanette is very dated to me. If I meet a baby named Jeanette today I would be pleasantly surprised. This would make a really good middle name and seems to go with most names. 

Jemima

• Meaning- dove
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Philippa and Homer

The first thing I think of when I hear Jemima is the syrup. Growing up I loved the name Jemima. I always thought it was so cool. Now I would consider it a guilty pleasure name for me. 

Jensen

• Meaning- Son of Johannes
• Origin- Finnish, Danish, and Norwegian
• Siblings- Arden and Paxton 

At first I didn't like the name Jensen on a girl but since doing this post it has really grown on me. You can use the nicknames Jen and Jenny, whereas for a boy they wouldn't be possible. This is another name I would consider adding to my guilty pleasure list. It's just very spunky and upbeat to me.

Jeri

• Meaning- feminine form of Jerry
• Origin- American
• Siblings- Vicki and Curt

I don't like Jeri at all! It's too nickname for me and it sounds like it should be on a old man. I would be able to tolerate it as a nickname but it would still bother me. 

Jessamine

• Meaning- jasmine
• Origin- French and Persian
• Siblings- Felicity and Prescott 

This is such a pretty name. It's so refreshing to hear Jessamine instead of Jessica. It's nice and long and the nickname Jessi is really cute. 

Jezebel

• Meaning- not exalted
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Salome and Jericho

I have heard some bad things about this name. I do know some people on formspring like this name and I personally don't think it is a bad name. It's cute and it also looks cool. 

Jill

• Meaning- youthful
• Origin- Latin
• Siblings- Tina and Scott

I don't like the name Jill but that is really only because I have had a bad association with a Jill. It's cute as a nickname for Jillian and Jillian as a whole is a nice name. 

Jo

• Meaning- Short form of Jo- names
• Origin- English, German, and Dutch
• Siblings- Gail and Ted

Jo is such a cute nickname but I don't like it as a full name. It looks incomplete on its own. If it was spelled Joe I would think it was a boy so the spelling Jo, although it looks incomplete, is what I would use for a girl. 

Joan

• Meaning- God is gracious
• Origin- Hebrew
• Siblings- Carol and Gene 

Joan is a name I have heard only on people in their 30's or older. It's a great middle name but I don't like it on a baby. 

Joanne

• Meaning- Variant of Joan
• Origin-English
• Siblings- Peggy and Dale

I have a really good family friend named Joanne. I think her name is really sweet and personally Joanne would make a great middle name. If I was going to use a Jo- name it would be either Johannah or Joanna. They both look more girl in comparison to Joanne. 

Jodi

• Meaning- Variant of Jody
• Origin- English
• Siblings- Lori and Bart

I love the name Jodi! It's short and sweet. I also like the author Jodi Picoult and using Jodi as a middle name would be a nice way to honor my love for reading. 

Josefa

• Meaning- Feminine form of Joseph
• Origin- Spanish, Portuguese, and Czech
• Siblings- Rafaela and Bertram 

I'm not a fan of Josefa. For me to say Josefa it's awkward. It also sounds and looks very boyish.  

Judy

• Meaning- Diminutive of Judith
• Origin- English
• Siblings- Lynda and Dennis

For some reason, unknown to me, I really love the name Judy. It's sweet. Now I don't like Judith with the nickname Judy and that happens a lot to me. I like a nickname but no full name. Some people may say Judy is dated and it is but I still think it can be usable. 

June

• Meaning- From the month name
• Origin- English
• Siblings- Marjorie and Clark

June can go either way in the dated department. Some people consider it dated, while overs don't. It is making its comback and I have been hearing a lot about this name over the last few months. I personally like it as both a nickname and a middle name. This is a name I can see becoming a fuller middle name because it goes with almost every name! 

Junia

• Meaning-Queen of heaven
• Origin- Latin
• Siblings- Magdalene and Matthias

I love the names Juniper, and June so I'm not surprised that I love Junia. It sounds so different and with the names June and Juniper becoming more popular its nice to hear Junia.It also looks pretty and is easy to spell. I may add this name to my long list.

Juniper

• Meaning- From the English word for the type of tree
• Origin- English
• Siblings- Clementine and Barnaby 

I love the name Juniper! Right now Juniper is in my top 10 list. I have it paired with Tess. It is also the name of a tree and a much lesser known nature name. I like the nickname Junie and it may sound familiar to you if you read the Junie B. Jones books growing up. 

Juno

• Meaning- Queen of heaven
• Origin- Latin
• Siblings- Isis and Thor

The very first time I heard the name Juno was when the movie came out, making that the first thing I think of when I hear the name. The second thing I think of is the phrases "You Know". I know it doesn't make much sense but it's because of the Alaska capital joke.
