Hey guys! You know what time it is! Feature Friday Time! This week is Christie! Her formspring is http://www.formspring.me/ChristieBear35 and her listography is http://listography.com/1430389312?m=4610454636. I had so much fun doing this interview and you all need to check her out. I love answering her questions. So let’s get on with the interview.
Me: So the first question is How did you get into baby names?
Christie: I got into baby names when I was younger and reading through an old, big red Websters Dictionary that had names in it. Some of the names I found in there I still like. When we got internet I would look through babynames sites for names for short stories and stuff. I also love etymology.
Me: I love how you looked at names in a dictionary! I didn't know you they had names. How old were you when you first started liking baby names?
Christie: I don't think that all dictionaries do, but mine does. It's really old. I think I was around 8 when I started paying attention to the dictionary for word purposes, and that's when I would have found the names.
Me: I'm going to go look at my dictionary later. What are your current favorite baby names?
Christie: My current top five for each gender are: Adelie June, Matilda Ruth, Gemma Lucy, Astrid Sophia, and Rosella Caroline (or maybe Clare). Cyrus Isaiah, Nathaniel Felix, Hayden Joshua, Asher Jude, and Rowan Oliver.
Me: I absolutely love your names! If you remember, what were your first favorite baby names?
Christie: I really like Amabel, and still do, when I was around 10. When I started on formspring my top names were Violet and Griffin.
Me: I love Amabel. It is so elegant. Why did you decide to join formspring and make list?
Christie: I'm considering added Amabel to my list. Well, I actually had a formspring account a few years before joining the baby name community for completely unrealated reasons. I joined the baby name community from watching AnastasiaRuby and finding other namers. I started making lists soon after.
Me: You should it goes so well with your other names. So many people have been influenced by Stephanie including me. What has been the most fun about making list and formspring?
Christie: The most fun...I really like finding new names. The formsping community has such a varity of namers and style! What I really like about making lists is that 1) I can keep track of my names and 2) I keep track of names that I like.
Me: Yeah it does. I have found some of my favorites through them. What has been your favorite list/formspring question (rename, collages, etc.) you have done?
Christie: I really liked the collages and the rename game that I did.
Me: I love the collages. Are you working on any formspring questions/spams or listography list?
Christie: Not right now. I do want to spam soon. I try to mix my spams up between baby names and non- baby names. I have some non-baby name followers, so make up for flooding their inboxes with questions that won't answer I send out ones that everyone can answer. They're mostly related to fandoms. I do want to make a baby name game, but I'm not sure if I will.
Me: I would love to play your baby name game if you make one and I like your questions. What do you love about baby names?
Christie: I still love etymology and I don't really know, I just find it fun.
Me: Etymology sounds so cool! It is so fun. What types of baby names to do like (ex. Trendy, vintage, etc.)?
Christie: Etymology is just the study of words, which has been a passion of mind since I was little. I usually like the more vintage or quirky names.
Me: It sounds like something I would like. When did you tell your friends and family about your love to baby names?
Christie: Only one of my RL friends knows about my love of baby names and I told her a few months ago.
Me: that's more than me haha :). How did/do your family and friends react to your love for baby names?
Christie: My cousin reacted like she does to everything: just laughed it off. Not all that interesting.
Me: That's a great reaction. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your love/addiction/obsession for baby names?
Christie: It's about an 8. I have other things that I obsess over more. Like Harry Potter and Doctor Who.
Me: That's a nice number. Harry Potter is great and I have seen some of Doctor Who because my brother likes it. I liked it when I saw it. What is the reason behind your formspring name?
Christie: Christie is a nickname I use on the internet and the Bear is more of an inside thing with someone else I used to chat with online and 35 is my favorite number.
Me: I like your name. Do you have a favorite baby namer (YouTube, blog, etc.)?
Christie: I don't really have a favorite favorite namer, but I love watching Stephanie's (AnastasiaRuby) YouTube. Everyone that I've really talked to on Formspring have been super nice.
Me: The community has just been so great. Do you have a #1 fan on your listography/formspirng or someone who you talk to a lot because of them?
Christie: I talk to a non-namer the most (iDBatman), but on formspring I talk to AvonleaGrace and SakiHeart the most.
Me: They are all nice people. What inspired you to make a formspring/listography besides baby names?
Christie: Formspring because someone on a message board invited me to make a formspring. The listography was just a nice way to save my lists online and for others to look at.
Me: I'm glad you can to formspring. We are down to our last 5 questions! Where do you find your baby names at?
Christie: Sometimes online (formspring, babyname sites, random places), the Bible is where I find many of them, and some of them have just popped into my mind. Like Adelie, I was just thinking about a name for a character and the name Adelie came to mind. I loved it too much for a character (and the name didn't suit the character).
Me: You have so many places to find names. Do you know anyone in real life that has a formspring/youtube/blog?
Christie: I know a few people who have non name related formsprings. I don't follow them, so no.
Me: Random fact about you?
Christie: A random fact about me is that I'm going to be going to school for IT Networking starting in the Spring semester.
Me: I wish you good luck. What did you think of this interview?
Christie: I thought that it was awesome! I had so much fun. Thank you!
Me: I had fun too. You're welcome and thanks for doing the interview. Is there anything else you would like to add?
Christie: Um... follow me on Formspring! :)
Me: haha yes go follow her. Thanks again for doing the interview.
So that is the interview. I had so much fun and it never gets old. I hope you enjoyed the interview and don’t forget to comment. Also go check out Christie’s formspring and answer her questions. Bye for now :).
