Lettie: The Nickname

Lettie is one of the nicknames that I have fallen in love with over the past year. Somewhere down the line on my ad's side I have a few aunts with the name. Since I try to stay away from nicknames as full name names I have been on the look out for a full name I love for Lettie. Since I have already done some research I figured why not just bring them to you. Lettie is an English diminutive of Lettice which meaning Joy, Happiness.

Arlette- Form of Herleva (Amry, Honour, Noble); French
I love Ar- names as well as Lett names so this is a prefect mix.

Alouette- Lark; French
If you don't feel French saying this name than I'm not sure what will make you. This is such a beautiful twist not he common bird names.

Aletta and Alette- Variant of Alethea (Truth); English
Two beautiful A names that sound elegant and unique.

Charlotte- Diminutive of Charles (Freeman); German
Charlotte is fast rising and made her way into he top 10 in 2014. ITs the name of a Princess and has so many great associations.

Colette- Short form of Nicolette (Victory of the People); French
For 30 years, Colette had not been on the top 1000 charts but in 2012 she jumped back on and has been moving up since.

Cosette- Little Thing; French
I am rarely impressed with the meaning of names but Cosette is one of those exceptions. Many people will think of the Les Miserables and I think the 2012 film brought light tot he name.

Evolet- The Love spelled backwards
Evolet was invented by the movie 10,000 BC. IN the movie they claim the names means Promise of Life

Elettra- Form of Electra (Amber); Italian
I thought for sure I was going to do research on this name and it was going to be made up. Its nice to see that tit is an Italian name. Elettra looks so pretty and unique.

Juliet/Juliette- Diminutive of Julie (Downy-Bearded); French
For years I had Juliette as my number 1 girls name. I am now seeing the name more and more. It gives a nice romantic vibe to parents and I can see the appeal.

Lettice- Form of Letitia; English
Although Lettice is so close to the word lettuce I still think its usable. The nickname Lettie it makes all the difference.

Letitia- Joy, Happiness; English
Letitia is a name that sound very proper and British. First Lady of John Tyler was a bearer of this name.

Nicolette- Diminutive of Nicole (Victory of the People); French
Growing up I always thought Nicolette was one of the most beautiful girl names out there. I loved it as an alternative to Nicole. It is the name of a princess in the French romance, Aucassin et Nicolette.

Odelette and Odeletta- Variant of Odele (Song)
Both these names are new to me but it was love at first sight. They remind me of a beautiful, young princess from a children's book or movie.

Paulette- Diminutive of Paul (Small, Humble); French
If you are looking to honor a Paul and you are having a girl, than Paulette is one of the best options out there. Lettie as a nickname gives the name a more girly feel.

Scarlett- Red; English
In 1940, Scarlett entered the top 1000 for the first time. It was a year after the movie Gone with the Wind came out. I'd say the movie had a great influence on the name.

Saletta- Variant of Sally (Princess)
Saletta is new to me but I really enjoy this name for its nickname options, Lettie and Saly.

Violet (English) and Violette (French)- Violet, Purple
Violet is one of the more popular names on this list and Violette is a nice alternative if you want something a little less popular. Both names give off a peaceful vibe and are girly with out overdoing it.

Winslet- Wynn's Channel or Stream; English
There are so many reasons to die for Winslet. I have learned that there is a small club of Winslet loving people out there. Are you a part of it?

Unique One Syllable Middle Names {Boys}

Yesterday I featured 10 unique one syllable girl middle names and today I am going to do the boys! Today is Middle Name Pride day and the inspiration behind the two blog posts. What is your middle name? What are your favorite middle names? I always love to hear people's full names and see how they flow.

I know a lot of people like one syllable middle names because a lot of times they flow good with the first name. Another aspect of naming that I have noticed over the years is people like unique names but don't feel they can use them as a name. I say that just because it doesn't work as the first name doesn't mean it can't work as the middle name! That is why I have a list of unique one syllable names that you can use below.

Ford- I have Ford in my top 10 but I have been noticing people using it in the middle name spot. It is great to use after the car company if your like cars.

Penn- Penn always makes me think of William Penn but that could be because I'm from Pennsylvania. I also like Penn in honor of a writer.

Holt- Holt is a Southern name and a word name. It has a sound to it that is unique and different.

West- Kim Kardashian named her daughter North so why can't West be used? It sounds very southern and county in my mind.

Boone- I am starting to realize by looking at this list that a lot of the names are county feeling. Boone is no different. Its not a name you will hear around much.

Ames- James is a common middle name for boys so why not use Ames. Its a nice way to honor a James and has almost the same sound.

Rush- I am a huge fan of word names so its no surprise I like the name Rush. You can also make it a nature name to like the rush of water going by.

Twain- Mark Twain is a famous author out there. If there are parents who like literature or him as an author Twain would make a perfect middle name.

Creed- Creed is a religious name and one that isn't known immediately. A creed is a formal statement of Christian beliefs.

Kit- I adore the name Kit for a boy. The only thing is I could never use it as a first name unless I used it as a nickname but I can't find a full name I love. If you want to honor a Christopher or Christian I think this is a good way to do it.

Unique One Syllable Middle Names {Girls}

The middle name is the place to put your unique names that you aren't brave enough to use as a first name. I think having a cool middle name is the best and its always nice to stand out int he crowd a little. My middle name is Ashley, not unique but when I tell people they are always surprised and are expecting it to be Anne or Marie. A lot of middle names are one syllable and the one syllable names are the names that go with just about any first name. I have 10 unique one syllable names for you for girls.

Rue- Rue has many forms to her: Golden Girls Actress, Hunger Games character, surname, and herbal plant

Air- Dare I saw a nature name? Air is natural so I'd say it works.

Snow- I have raved about his name in the past few months. It's short, sweet and a nature name.

Teal- Color names make great middle names. It's also a bird name believe it or not.

Maeve- Maeve makes a great May or Marie alternative, both of which are common middle names for girls.

Dove- This is the second bird name on the list but its a little more noticeable as a bird name than Teal. I love the romantic, peaceful feeling of the name.

Sloane- Sloane is an 80s move name from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In 2015 she ranked at #327

Blair- I am a huge Gossip Girls fan and Blair was one of my favorite characters. I like how the name just flows off the tongue.

Noor- Noor is so much like Nora. Since Nora is two syllables and ends with an A it might not go well with a lot of first names. Noor is the perfect fix.

Maude- Maude is a vintage name that can remind people of Queens and the British.

Instagram Name Spottings

I always seem to find the coolest and cutest names on instagram. It finally occurred to me that maybe I should share all these great names with you!

Girls
Nancy Hope: I seem to be seeing Nancy a lot more and its actually a pleasant surprise.
Wilder Frances (Jessica Simpson's goddaughter): I prefer Wilder on a boy but Frances is a nice middle name. I do think that a more feminine middle name would be great for Wilder.
Jovi Katherine: Jovie is so cool! Katherine helps balance this whole name out.
Selah Joy: Both gorgeous names
Paislynne: It's a cool alternative to Paisley
Ellington Claire: You can use the common nickname Ellie but with a unique name.

Boys
Valor Chet: Valor is a great virtue name and I had Chet on my top 20 list a few months back.
Shepherd Zion: Shepherd is in my top 10 list and Zion sounds great with it.
Graydi Cash Kautz: I like Grady but not so much this spelling.
Summit Ander David: Summit it so cool! Reminds me of a mountain.

Siblings/Multiples
Lofton and Linden: a set of brothers. I've heard of the name Linden before and I've heard it also used on a girl but I've never heard of Lofton.
Waverly Maye and Avalon Elle: A set of sister. I just love these together!
Holland Ray (b) and Navy Jude (g): I love Holland for a girl and Navy is both a cool name and color.
Meadow Nightingale Shine and Cove Huntington David: A set of boy girl twins. Love love Cove and I think their middle animus are cool.
Kingston John, Raena Marie, and Esme Yvette: Such pretty names and a cute group of siblings.
Scout Rowan (b) and Loie Juliet: Scout is amazing but I think paired with Rowan its a little confusing of the gender. Loie is really different.
Townsend (b) and Hendrix: My first guess is that Townsend is a family name or a surname. I think Hendrix is pretty cool.

Connie The Nickname

For those of you who don't know I am a huge fan of nicknames. Growing up I never had a nickname and always felt left out so I would love my future children to have nickname possibilities. I also fall in love with nicknames before I actually fall in love with a name for it. Earlier in the week I featured the name Constance on my name Instagram and it got me thinking about the nickname Connie. I went on the hunt for full names for the nickname Connie.

Constance: This is a vintage chic name that you really don't hear all that often. I think it's sweet and different. Paired with the nickname Connie I think the name would be fitting for a little girl.

Connor: A name more favored on a boy I feel like Conner could work for a girl. I mean if River and Elliott can be used on girls why can't Conner?

Connolly: If you like Conner but feel like it's too much of a boy name Connolly is perfect for you. It has the same beginning but with a more feminine ending. I love that Connolly is a surname as well.

Concetta: I first saw this name in my sorority house and those it was so different! The con beginning and etta end are a really nice combination.

Consuela: This name reminds me of a sweet little old grandmother. It's very Spanish so I'm not sure if it would work on all nationalities.

Contessa: Now I love this name more than Concetta. Contessa sounds so pretty and grand. I can picture it on a little princess.

Concordia: I like the length of this name so much. Not only does it have the nickname Connie but it also has the nickname Cory and Dia.

Constantina: A similar name to Constance but much longer and I think this name is a little more modern sounding than Constance.

Lacona: I had never heard this name before but I think it's pretty cute. You can get the nickname Connie depending on the way you pronounce the name.

Macon: Like Connor this name is seem a lot more on boy but I can see it on a girl. If you like the nickname Connie but none of the names above this name is for you.

I really loved making this post and might make another one like this again. What are your favorite Connie names? I love them all but I would have to say Constance and Contessa are my favorite.
